-We couldn’t find the back of the net in the 2nd half. Credit to the Upper Moreland defense.

-We did a good job of controlling the ball in the first half and moving the ball. Lex McCabe was able to find space to score early in the game.

-Annalise Messina is an amazing player. We did everything we could to deny her the ball because it is almost impossible to stop her in the open field. She still was their leading scorer.

-Ava Fell was phenomenal in goal with 13 saves.

Wissahickon started off with the first two goals of the game just 5 minutes into the first half. UM was able to answer back 2 goals, while Wissahickon then was able to take a 4 goal lead. The defensive unit was dialed in and was not phased by a 4-goal deficit in the first half. In the first half Wissahickons goalie, Ava Fell had some really great saves and attack player Alexa McCabe really played tough with 5 goals in the first half.

Addi Hurley remained composed and communicative throughout, recording 11 saves between the pipes. Charlotte James and Kellen Diestel have stepped up greatly this year as huge additions to our defense, who shined today. Avery Adamski tagged 5 caused turnovers acting as our defensive director, and Cambrie Richmond was crucial in transition.

Willow Taylor really shined today and showcased her athleticism as a true midfielder, producing points in every category. Along with Annalise, the two really controlled the tempo today. Annalise, despite being face guarded, was a huge contributor all over, playing with composure and hunger. Allison LaRocco is new at the middie position and it has been incredible watching her play so maturely and with such intensity. Jenna Piantieri was solid in transition and on attack. Reagan Cummins was huge in pushing fast breaks, and our offense showed great composure especially in the second half. Olivia Meakim was a great finisher for us today, and Isabel Leiter was crucial in being a vocal leader and composed presence. Maggie Morrow and Ella Gould did a great job coming in as a sub and playing strong.

In the second half we were down 1 goal to start and went on a 3 goal streak to put us up by 2 goals and we really never looked back. After Wissahickon scored a goal we then went on a 5 goal run to finish the game.

Wiss is always a great competitor and we were looking forward to returning after last year’s one-goal loss. We were prepared for a battle and Wissahickon gave us that, and I am so proud of this year’s squad who really showcased their growth and resilience today.
