Central Bucks East Comments
CB East kickstarted their Fall 2023 season with a strong 3-0 win against Abington on the road. After 20 minutes of even play, East was able to take the advantage after freshman Mia Forney served a short cross to winger Julia Santanello with a quick one-time finish. With 14 remaining in the first half, East was able to extend its lead with a well-placed goal from junior midfielder, Stella Genin. East managed to strengthen its hold of the game after Julia Santanello's second goal with 15 minutes remaining. East will be back on the road to play cross-town rivals, CB West on Tuesday.

I thought this was a very good test for us to start our season. Abington is well coached, super organized, and made this game difficult from the jump. It wasn't our best, but we did enough of the things we aimed to do that we got a result we deserved. We didn't fully play the way we wanted to and I thought our game was choppy for large spells, but was really happy how we settled in after our second goal and much more in the second half. Early wins are total team efforts and it came from everywhere today. I thought Sophie Schorn and Savannah Hayes stepped up massively today. Mae Leedy saved us big time on a PK stop when we were up 2. I thought Sofia Mignon did what she's done for the past 3 years for us - great defensively, good on the ball, commanding. I'm delighted to see Julia score 2 in this one. She does so many things right quietly, so to see her finish two really good opportunities is great. It's early, but this is a good start for our group. Abington will be tough to beat this year.
