Felt like one got away from us today. For the majority of the game, we looked like the better team and dominated the ball. Early in the first half we were first to every ball and were able to keep some strong possession. We didn’t create a ton in the final third but were rewarded for our efforts through a free kick at about Midfield. Avery Carroll hit a great ball cross field that dropped just behind their back line. Lily Heron was able to get in behind the back line with a great run and then rounded the goalkeeper with her first touch for a cool finish to put us up 1-0. Bensalem responded well with some well-placed long balls and we got caught on one right between the backline for their first goal. Lily Heron continued to create some opportunities and cause havoc for Bensalem’s back line. At one point she looked like she was in again and about to beat the keeper 1-on-1, unfortunately the defender came from behind and collided with her and wasn’t awarded with a penalty. Entering the half, we were locked a 1.

At the start of the second half, we gave up a quick free kick at midfield. We were a little lax on the ball in, and Bensalem was able to punish us. It seemed like we had the ball for at least 60 percent of the time in the second half, but as time wore on, we got a little over excited in the final third and were rushing things in front of net. We had some qualities opportunities on set pieces that we needed to put away.
