We lost 2-1 against New Hope today. We started off strong with good energy and ball movement. We knew they were going to have speed up top and I thought we did a nice job of containing them and got a couple offsides calls, which was great. We scored first on some nice passing up top that led to a ball from Ciara Rodriguez to Mikki Carrera who found the back of the net. They struck back before the end of the half to tie it 1-1. In the second half, we played well and Sydney Holland kept the pressure on with several good shots. We just couldn’t capitalize on those opportunities. They scored off a cross that our goalie deflected, but they had someone in the right spot to put the ball in. I thought we played well, had some good movement and that our defensive line did a good job. Our center backs, Tabitha Sterman and Lily Wilden, did well with communicating and disrupting New Hope’s game flow. We are going to learn from this game and get better tomorrow as we prepare for two more games this week.
