WISSAHICKON 1, PENNRIDGE 2 OT
It was a great match up - Our style of play was in-line with Pennridge enabling an exciting, hard-fought 80 minutes of play.
Wiss center backs Mary Matthews and Anna Wilde played the best game that I have seen to date ... The Trojans played the best game I have seen to date. In the first half Matthews read the field stepping forward and falling back flawlessly limiting Pennridge attack and allowing her Trojans to gain possession building from the back forward. And Wilde stepped up in the second half to shut down Pennridge advances holding them to six shots with no reward.
Pennridge took the lead at minute 28 when they were able to capitalize off of a corner, however ten minutes later Maddie Elwell leveled the score with an unbelievable shot from at least 35 yards out, sailing far side, over top the outstretched Pennridge Keeper to end the half at 1-1. The score remained knotted for the entire second half but the game was anything but stagnate. In OT Pennridge took advantage of a broken right side tackle that allowed #22 a soft shot that rolled across the goal mouth just thru for the game winner. An unfortunate sudden death to a great game ending on the side of Pennridge.
