Halftime 0 – 0.

It was 0-0 60 minutes in. We dominated play and had multiple opportunities to score. Too often, we were crossing the ball straight to the goalie or just weren’t very clinical in front of the net. To the team’s credit, no one panicked and we stuck with the game plan. We tried to improve a few things on the field at halftime in terms of how we want to be set up with that much possession.

With about 20 minutes left, our senior center back and captain Brianna Reynolds carried the ball from our defensive half all the way into the final third, played in to Maddie McGuckien who played it one touch right back to Bri. Bri played Maddie through and we finally got on the board. It was Maddie’s 5th goal on the young season. In a game we had to win, a ton of credit goes to Bri Reynolds for making the big time play needed to open up the game. We have a lot of young players up front trying to score so leave it to the senior to let everyone take a breath by making that play. In addition to Bri, Meg Wendler and Katie Lukens also made several great plays out of defensive positions to aid our offense.

Shortly after our first goal, junior forward Liv Reilly played sophomore forward Keira Whelan through who finished past the keeper to go up 2-0. It was Keira’s third goal of the season and Liv’s second assist.

Two minutes later, senior Devyn Cohen played a trail pass to Marleigh Burton in the box who calmly finished the ball in the back of the net. Sophomore Marleigh Burton had an outstanding game getting forward today so the coaches were thrilled to see her get on the scoresheet.

About three minutes later, senior Abby Boegner played a ball into the box and Olivia Budin was there for a very composed finish.

To finish the game, freshman Maddi Lazaroff – who we are slowly easing into the mix – hit a wonderful corner and Maddie McGuckien found it and finished with her head for her second goal of the game and sixth on the season.

Senior goalkeepers Caitlyn Dinh and Chloe Markus kept the clean sheet. Chloe made a huge save in the final minute to seal the shutout.
