PW vs. Lower Moreland. At PW.

Halftime score: 0 – 0.

Final: 5 – 0. PW wins.

As has been the story of our recent run, we went into halftime scoreless. We played very well, had multiple scoring opportunities that we did not put away. This time, the frustration seemed to get to some of our players.

One minute into the second half, sophomore forward Keira Whelan continued her strong start to the season putting away a finish in the box. Marleigh Burton did great work to create the goal and get the assist. That was Keira’s 6th goal of the season.

About 15 minutes later, freshman Maddi Lazaroff took a quick throw down the sideline and sophomore forward Mia Baron made a terrific run to get on the end of it and put the bouncing ball away past the keeper. It was Mia’s first goal since her/our opening goal vs. Abington. Mia’s work rate is truly off the charts. The coaches and her teammates were so happy to see her finally get another goal.

Later in the second half, Maddie McGuckien got her head on a corner and skied the ball in the air. Junior forward, Liv Reilly, who had a tremendous game attacked the ball out of the air for her second goal of the season.

A few minutes later, Liv Reilly earned another corner and drove a perfect ball to the far post. Marleigh Burton made a great run on to the ball and put it into the net for her third goal on the season.

To finish the game, sophomore midfielder Maddie McGuckien attacked a Mia Baron corner with her head to finish for her 9th goal of the season.

Caitlyn Dinh earned the shutout in net. Junior Katie Lukens had an outstanding game, defending a speedy Lower Moreland attack. Senior captain Meg Wendler showed great heart by fighting through illness to give us 70+ minutes in defense.
