Neshaminy – 1 (after OT)

Disappointing result tonight, after what was a really positive response and performance from our last match. In the first half, I thought our defense looked really well-organized. Hailey Rohr and Jule DeCaro kept good shape in the middle and were stepping and covering at the right times, and Paige Geiger and Avery Carroll were locking it down on the outside as well. Jules Purvy also did a good job rotating in at outside back for a few shifts as well. I thought Paige in particular really stood out and did a great job of stepping at the right time and winning every ball that came her way. Our biggest struggle in the first half was finding a little composure on the ball and creating something positive with our possession.

We did a better job of settling down and taking care of the ball in the second half and had a solid share of the possession. Neshaminy was able to create a few chances, and I thought our goalkeeper Emily Dick did a great job of coming up with some crucial saves and getting off her line to cut things off at the right time. We had a few half chances going forward in the second half. Nicole Schulingkamp had one or two that could’ve bounced her way, but Neshaminy ended up defending well and stopping the threat, and we weren’t able to capitalize on our other half-chances.

At the start of the first overtime period, Neshaminy got the ball forward pretty quickly and put us under pressure. They were able to find a seam between our backline with a through ball over the top and some tired legs probably let us down a bit as their striker got through for a neat 1v1 finish against Emily.

We are away at Council Rock North Friday.
