Pennridge – 3

Despite the result, I think the team should proud of the performance they put in tonight. Earlier in the season when we faced Pennridge we lost 8-0, and we talked a lot this week about adjustments that we could make in order to compete against them in our second meeting. The team did a phenomenal job taking what we worked on in practice and applying it to the match to really frustrate Pennridge. Other than a lapse in focus and communication in the first half which led to their first goal, I thought the whole team was organized front to back, and our midfielders and backline did a great job of stifling any real quality chances for the Rams. Anything that got through Khalan Hurley did a great job of saving or claiming in her net. Khalan had one or two really huge saves to keep it 1-0 through to half and Hailey Rohr was excellent at repelling any corner kicks or set pieces away from our net.

Going into the second half we knew we needed to raise our focus and commitment to staying organized because Pennridge was going to raise their level, and we wanted to try and make the most of the ball when we had it at our feet. Our organization was great again, credit to everyone who played in the backline tonight including Hailey, Jules DeCaro, Avery Carroll, Paige Geiger, and Jules Purvy. We had a good rotation and they kept things tight and communication at a high level. Unfortunately, Pennridge got their second goal from a long-range shot to put us down 2-0, and then in the last 5 minutes we turned in an own goal on a corner kick that was defended well but took an unfortunate deflection.

We hope to take the positives from tonight and carry them through the remainder of our season. We host North Penn on Thursday for community night.
