WISSAHICKON 2, SPRINGFIELD 1 | OT
A barnburner of a game and a honor to be part of Springfield’s homecoming festivities - complete with senior recognition, the homecoming court, their band, cheerleaders, and a packed stadium -- Wiss was able to pull out the Win.
On a war torn field Wiss battled Springfield for 82 minutes. Escaping pressure at the top of the 18 to turn and shoot (right footed) Senior Captain Maddie Elwell lifted her team to victory two minutes into OT. The third game in a row following Pennridge (OT), and Upper Moreland (Wiss Senior Night), Springfield’s fans were deafening at times, their team pressing, physical and relentless, but Wiss answered the call and played on. Elwell’s work rate was tremendous scoring first to put Wiss on the board and then again in OT for the game winner -- She was the real deal tonight. Wilde and Matthews once again did not let up out of the back, Selverian and Bishop pushed hard as well, along with Dickson in the midfield to win balls and advance their Trojans.
Congratulations ladies - well played tonight. A total team effort got you across the finish line and the W.

JV STATS: Win
