We knew going into this game that UM had speed up top in Kyra Favors and Brooke Lobban. Our backline played them well with excellent defending from Junior Abi Meehan and Senior Theresa Ditri. Also contributing defensively was Junior Madelon Senior and Senior Jessica Villada. They were able to match their speed and keep them to the outside and away from a dangerous position. Also playing a strong game was Senior keeper Emily Ehresmann who was quick off her line to take away any breakthrough chances. We went into halftime up 1-0 with a goal by Senior Brielle Langford on a well placed ball over the top by Freshman Sami Roby. Outside midfielders Sophmore Sofia Jakimoski and Senior Maddie Hughes kept the width of the field which allowed us time and space in the middle to progress up the field. We knew we needed that second goal to give us some breathing room and it came in the second half from Junior Paige Marek on an assist from Senior Maddie Hughes. This was one of our best team efforts and a big win for us early in the season.
