Central Bucks West Comments
Central Bucks West traveled to Conwell Egan Catholic High School this afternoon and picked up a 5-3 non-league win. The win improved the Bucks record to 11-5 on the season. Ana Glemser started the game in the circle for West and went four strong innings, giving up two runs on four hits and striking out one batter. Sienna Lawson finished up the game for West pitching the final three innings in relief and only giving up one run to CEC. The game saving defensive play of the day took place with two runners in scoring position and two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning when second baseman Taylor Hooven fielded a hard-hit ground ball up the middle and threw out the leadoff batter for Conwell Egan. Had the hit found its way into center field it would have tied the game at 5-5. Hooven's play most definitely saved the win for CB West. West hit well throughout the game collecting 13 hits in all but stranded 11 runners on base during the contest. The offensive leaders for West were leadoff hitter Jill Boyle with three singles and a stolen base on the day. Molly Gibson who had two hits and drove in a run for the Bucks. Emily Gerstein went two for three and reached base all three plate appearances for West. Taylor Hooven also chipped in a hit and an RBI. Avery Rubenstein collected a hit and scored two runs. The Bucks also played solid defense throughout the contest. With good defensive play by Julia Thomas, Emily Gerstein, Jill Boyle and Laila Murray. Ava Mattes was solid again behind the plate for West. Coach Daher said, "this was a good win for us beating a very good Catholic League team on their field. We hit the ball well, got good pitching and played solid defense. Our only negative was leaving too many runners on base. Hopefully it is something we can correct moving forward."
