Hatboro-Horsham Comments
The Hatters committed two errors in the first inning and unfortunately could not recover as Pennridge took the game 7-4. Nicole Casagrande took only her second loss of the season as she gave up 11 hits, 3 BBs, while stiking out 5. However, she lead the offense going 3 for 3 with two doubles and a triple. Daria Edwards had a solo homerun in the 3rd.
The Hatters fell behind 4-0 after the top of the 1st. Jen Cader lead off the first with a single and took second on an outfield error. Maria Spinosa singled and then stole 2nd. Then with runners on 2nd and third, Cader scored on a ground out by Edwards to short. One run would be all for the Hatters in the 1st. Casagrand lead off the 2nd with a triple to right field and scored on a wild pitch. In the third, Edwards launched her solo homerun to bring the score to 4-3. Then trailing 7-3 in the 6th, Johnson would rip a one out double and then score on Casagrande's second double of the night.
Pennridge Comments
The Lady Rams came to the Hatboro Little League Complex with bad memories, memories of the 10 inning loss they took at home a couple of weeks ago to the Hatters. The Lady Rams took advantage of 2 uncharacteristic errors in the first inning to plate 4 runs. Emily Mayhew(3 for 4 with a double) lead off the game and reached on an infield error. Mayhew then stole second. Brooke Labs then worked a walk to put runners at 1st and 2nd. Paige DeCew then ripped a double to right center to plate Mayhew and Pennridge had runners at 2nd and 3rd with one out. Then up stepped Morgan Labs, who had a homerun last year in the Rams' win over Hatboro, and drove a 1-0 offering over the left centerfield fence to plate 3 Ram runs and give the Rams a 4-0 lead. Pennridge would leave runners in scoring position in the next two innings as Hatboro would mount their comeback. Then leading 4-3, in the top of the 4th, the Lady Rams made some adjustments. Mayhew singled to right with one out followed by a single by Briana Gery to left. Both would advance a base on a passed ball. DeCew would then get her second RBI of the night as she singled. Gery then stole home on a wild pitch. With courtesy runner Lisa Bahmueller at third, Morgan Labs dropped a single into left field to plate Bahmueller. Haley Taylor would then double, but the Rams would settle for a 7-4 lead. From that point on DeCew in the pitching circle surrounded by solid defense shut down the potent Hatboro offense. DeCew on the night got the win, scattering 7 hits with no walks and 9 stike outs.
