The Owls continued their winning ways and were able to notch their 13th win of the season and 4th this week. Honestly we would have to dig into the record books to see when the last time an Owls team was able to get to 13 wins.

The Owls lead off the game with Meg Klein reaching on a walk and stealing second and scoring on a hit by Ayva Knowles. Knowles was then driven in by a double by Maggie Formichelli. Kenzie Kramer stepped up and ripped a laser solo Home Run (Kramer was out most of the season recovering from a concussion and she is really starting to get her swing back).

In the second Destiny Howard was hit by a pitch, Klein followed with a double to RF and Knowles grounded out to collect her 2nd RBI. After a quiet 3rd inning the Owls pounded out 4 runs in the 4th. Ashlyn Merz lead off with a single, Howard followed up with a double and Klein hit a sac fly to center field. Formichelli hit an RBI single and Lina Sponheimer hit a 2 RBI single up the middle. Camryn Pickering smoked a line drive to short stop that was miss played and Formichelli raced home from second for the final run of the inning.

Howard led off the 5th with a solo home run, Kayla Clarkson walked and Klein smacked her second double of the day and Formichelli hit another RBI single for a 3 run inning. The 6th inning the Owls were able to put up one more run on back to back doubles.

Merion Mercy were able to get two runs in the 1st on a single and an error following by 2 rbi ground outs. And one in the 2nd when a walk came around to score on an error.

Maggie has been really dialed in lately, she only allowed 2 hits today. We need to clean up on a few shakey defensive plays but over all we are playing really good softball.

For the Owls Megan Klein has been on a tear this season, we have let her swing away a lot more then she has done in the past and its worked with her speed and ability to be a true triple threat it makes her hard to game plan for. She’ll drive a ball to the fence then lay down a bunt her next at bat. She’s already had 41 hits this season which is a crazy number.
