Council Rock South (14) defeated Methacton (18) 3-1 ( 25-21, 25-21, 13-25, 25-18) in the opening round of District 1 volleyball playoffs.
The Golden Hawks were led by Celina Varian with 10 kills, and 17 digs including her 1000th career dig. Ariana Ranieri had 8 kills and 4 aces, Lauren Dougherty had 8 kills and 4 blocks, Katie Marsh had 4 aces, 1 kill and 2 blocks, Paige O’Connell had 18 assists and Ava Paulson had 12 assists.
Coach Wright said: “Hosting a playoff game was one of our preseason team goals. Last year, we fell one seed short and had to travel to Methacton. This year, they came to us. Playing at home makes all the difference. I am so proud of how hard my girls fought all match long. Methacton is a very good defensive team and they gave us fits.
