William Tennent Comments

So, tonight was just one of those matches that is hard to describe unless you were there. We played CB South at WT for our Dig Pink Night. We had a huge crowd, raised a lot of money for a good cause, had a 2-0 lead and lost 3-2. I wish I could be upset, but I can't. A little bummed but far from upset. We have come such a long way and this team fights as hard as any team I have seen. They lay everything on the line. We played without our MH Devyn Cobb who had an MRI on her knee and Kelsey O'Shea who plays DS. Mackenzie Lockett, our other middle, went down with an ankle sprain and our libero left the gym wrapped in ice, but the girls kept fighting. CBS serves smart and has a great group of girls and this type of match really does not have any losers. I give them a lot of credit for coming back.

Nicole Long had 23 kills, 5 aces and 12 digs. Shaina Gatton had 11 kills and 10 digs. Stephanie Woolston had 35 digs and 4 aces. Jessica Rutkowsky had 14 digs. Mackenzie Lockett had 11 kills and Sara Ingham added 8 blocks. Kelly Scipione had a team high 32 assists.
25-18, 25-20, 20-25, 20-25, 10-15

"Tonight we dug deep and won another 5 set match" said CB South Head Coach Kurt Godfrey. "Being down 0-2 and coming back to win 3-2 really shows the grit and determination of this team. Coming off of a big win Monday night against CB East, I think it took us a little while to settle into a rhythm tonight. Tennent is a good team and Brian had them fired up tonight. Steph is a heck of a libero for them and it made it tough for us to get kills tonight."

"Julia Dennis has been a force at the net in the last few matches and I am so proud of her! It's really nice to see it all coming together for her in her senior year. I think she and Kelly have really been on the same page lately and its helped our offense tremendously. Alyssa and Isabel were really great for us tonight too... Alyssa at the net and Isabel had a monster night for us at the service line. She had 14 points for us back there. Hopefully this momentum carries into the end of this week and rolls into next week. We'll go back to work tomorrow in practice, fix a few things we need to work on and be ready for the next big challenge that comes our way."
