PENNSBURY 1, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 0
Kelly Amador scored the game’s only goal, in the 57th minute, with an assist from Caroline Foley to help the Falcons remain undefeated after this SOL National battle of first- and second-place teams.
Amador converted a rebound that had come from Foley’s header after Abby Wick had started the play with a corner kick.
In helping the Falcons record their sixth shutout this year, junior goalkeeper Kayla Kunde earned her first full shutout for Pennsbury (11-0-1, 8-0-1 SOL), as she had split a previous 5-0 victory Sept. 11 over Harry S Truman with junior Nany Santiago.
As Kunde didn’t have to make any saves this time against the Indians (7-3-1, 5-3-1 SOL), Pennsbury head coach Kaitlyn Battiste credited the performance of defenders Amy Blazejewski, Rachel Beri, Karina Raykova and Foley for limiting scoring opportunities.
Santiago sat out this contest for precautionary reasons because of swelling in one of her knees, related to a bad bruise, Battiste said.
“This was more preventative with that type of injury,” Battiste said. “We felt we could give (Kunde) a start with our defense playing as well as it has lately, so we also saw the opportunity to give (Santiago) the rest when she can.”
A 1-1 tie at Neshaminy on Sept. 15 remains the only half-blemish on Pennsbury’s otherwise-perfect season.
“It’s awesome – the players have been putting in the work, so they deserve it, but we know that every team will be bringing its best game,” Battiste said. “So the hardest part, at this point, is to make sure that we can consistently play at a high level.”

SOUDERTON 3, QUAKERTOWN 1
Freshman Tori Dowd and senior forward Kara Waskiewicz, a co-captain, scored second-half goals within about two minutes of each other, lifting the Indians to a comeback victory over the host Panthers.
For Souderton (5-5-1, 5-4 SOL), Dowd got the game-winner at 69:38, her fourth goal since being promoted from junior varsity, with an assist from junior forward Kylie Heath. At 71:07, Waskiewicz tallied an insurance marker off a rebound, as junior Maddie Doepner got the assist after initiating the play from a free kick.
Quakertown (2-9-1, 2-7-1 SOL) had opened the scoring at 18:57, as senior midfielder Jami Soriano scored with an assist from sophomore forward Katie Crouthamel.
Senior defender Beth McGee, another co-captain, tied the score at 1 with a goal at 23:28, that originally appeared to be scored by Dowd.
“The referee said the ball already was in the goal before (Dowd) hit it,” Souderton head coach Chris Felber said.

Quakertown 1-0 1
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 1, HATBORO-HORSHAM 0
Kate Neil scored unassisted in the 78th minute for the only goal of the contest, as the visiting Titans edged the Hatters.
South goalkeeper Sophia Boggs made three saves in earning her fifth shutout this season.
The game was tightly contested and much of play was controlled by the Titans (5-3-3, 3-3-3 SOL) in the first half, but the tide started to change in the second half as the Hatters (2-10-1, 0-8-1 SOL) looked to attack with more enthusiasm.
For Hatboro-Horsham, Sarah Thuerer and Mikaela Malofiy showed that they are two of the better senior players in the league and with the help of Marissa Portelli controlling the central midfield for much of the game.
But the Titans defense played well and patiently waited for the game winner.
"We still believe we have a lot to play for, and every time we have the opportunity to play together, we consider it a blessing," said Hatters’ coach Ben Winderman, whose team travels Wednesday to
War Memorial Field for a 7 p.m. start against Central Bucks East.
