Springfield 1, Upper Moreland 1 (2 OT)
It wasn't a win, but for a Golden Bear squad that has struggled this season, it was hard to be disappointed with anything that wasn't a loss.
Randy Meehl scored the lone goal for the winless Bears, who finished in a 1-1 draw with Springfield in a conference meeting at Upper Moreland High School.
The last time the two teams squared off against one another, the Spartans (8-5-1, 5-5-1) came out on top 4-1, but things were different this time around.
"We didn't have as many players today because of injury, but the guys in there played together today and they picked each other up," Upper Moreland coach Jack Knauss said. "You always feel better playing at home, and I thought they played very nice as a team today."
Corey Cottone scored the lone goal for the Spartans off an assist from Juan Castro. The two teams went into the half tied at 1-1, and for the second half and both 10-minute overtime periods, neither goalie allowed anything past them.
Connor O'Hagan stopped 11 shots in net for the Bears, who are now 0-11-3 overall and 0-9-2 in conference play in a season which has seen Upper Moreland rack up the injuries.
"We've been struggling," Knauss said. "We have had two guys with ACLs out for the season, a broken ankle, some pulled hamstrings and guy trying to play injured. We have two concussions and it has been the worst year I've ever seen with injuries.
“It's not an excuse, but we are young and we're trying to find ourselves with only a couple seniors. I'm looking forward to next year, too, with a lot of promising players. When you're that hurt, there's nothing you can do about it."
Regarding Tuesday's game, Knauss said his team missed plenty of opportunities, but he was pleased with his team's effort.
"I thought it was a great game. Back and forth and back and forth," he said. "There is no doubt in my mind that in the second half and overtimes, we absolutely dominated and had something like 70 percent of the time of possession. We just didn't finish. Their keeper made a lot of nice saves on us."

Bensalem 3, Abington 1
While whether or not they will make the playoffs still remains a mystery to the Owls, coach Joe Leone knows that if his team wants to have any shot at the postseason, they need to keep winning.
Bensalem did just that against host Abington, scoring a pair of second half goals en route to victory.
Chris Juergensen scored the only two goals in the second half to boost Bensalem (5-9-0, 4-6-0) to the upset victory against the Ghosts (6-4-3, 4-5-2), who were unable to beat goalkeeper Greg Citrino in the second half.
"It was a good win for us because we're hoping this will help us to stay in the playoff hunt," Leone said. "Hopefully it just keeps us alive. We're just trying to finish as strong as we can and do all we can given the teams and competition down the line."
After the two teams went into the half tied at 1-1, with Eddie Farnsworth scoring Bensalem's goal, the Owls got together and figured out a plan of attack for the final 40 minutes. It worked, as the team's star player was able to beat the Ghosts' defense twice and help the Owls to victory.
"Chris had a good game, and he's just hustling always and determined, so it's good to see that," Leone said. "We hope we can use this momentum and try to finish as strong as can. We want to keep the momentum going the best we can."
Citrino was part of an excellent defense on Tuesday, stopping 10 shots in net to earn the win for Bensalem.
"He made a couple big stops in the second half that kept the game in our favor," Leone said. "He definitely came up big for us there in the second half."
Bensalem will look to get to within a game of .500 in the conference following a meeting with Harry S. Truman this Thursday.

Central Bucks East 3, Central Bucks South 1
Two quick goals in the game's opening 11 minutes and Central Bucks East was on its way to yet another conference win.
Evan Vare scored three-and-a-half minutes into the contest and then assisted on a goal by Alex Parasky to give the Patriots an early 2-0 lead en route to their win over the visiting Titans that allowed them to remain undefeated in conference play.
"We got off to a good start," CB East coach Mike Gorni said. "We scored (again) early in the second half and then we kind of handled things from there. We're getting ready for a big week with Senior Night tomorrow night and a huge non-league game Saturday against an undefeated (Coughlin) team."

Hatboro-Horsham 1, Quakertown 0
A goal by Eduardo Romero in the game's 25th minute would be all the scoring Hatboro-Horsham would need, as the Hatters went into Quakertown High School and came out on top in a close game.
The Hatters (3-9-2, 2-7-2) watched as goalkeeper Kurt Dick made six saves to secure the shutout and the victory.
"Building off of a victory over Radnor last week, I thought we played well again by getting another shutout by our goalie who kept the clean sheet," Hatboro-Horsham coach Kyle McGrath said. "We generated a lot of chances, hit the crossbar and Quakertown's goalie (Steven Hippauf) is the real deal and kept them in the game.
"Eduardo (Romero) and Dante D'Alonzo were dangerous all night, while Corey Milewski continues to set a great example for the younger players."
D'Alonzo assisted on the game's only goal.
Sophomores Joe LaRoche and Logan Eldridge both earned their first varsity experience last game and continued to play well on Tuesday.
Quakertown fell to 1-14-0 overall and 0-11-0 in conference play with the loss.

Souderton 1, Pennridge 1 (2 OT)
Through 14 games this season, Pennridge has allowed just barely more than one goal per game on average. You would think a team with that kind of defensive stat would be seeing success, but thus far, the Rams have only one win to show for it.
They do, however, now have six draws following a tie against visiting Souderton, which entered the game significantly higher in the standings than Pennridge.
"A 'W' would've been nice, but given the situation and what we were facing, we played a really good game," Pennridge coach Pete Valimont said. "We're giving up about a goal a game and say that to any team and tell them that they only have one win and I think you'd have to do a double take. I'm still very pleased with the result (today)."
The game was the third consecutive contest that saw Pennridge go into double overtime, and the Rams had to come from behind to force the extra periods.
Souderton scored 20 minutes into the game when Justin Molyneaux found Danny Sullivan to put the Indians (6-5-3, 6-3-2) on top 1-0. The Rams (1-7-6, 1-6-4) got the goal back midway through the second half when Ethan Aigeldinger scored thanks to a great cross from Tyler McMahon.
"Ethan did a really great job of being on the end of a great play by Tyler and he scored a nice goal," Valimont said. "We had a couple of chances in the first half but didn't finish. We gave up a good goal scored by them but came back in the second half."
With all of the double overtime games, Valimont said that his team has now played more than one full game more than any other team as far as minutes go.
"It's not the record we want to have, but at the same time, we're not losing 3-0 or 4-0 games,” the Rams’ coach said. “We only have one win, but we have six ties. We had a great effort all-around tonight and our defense played great. We played a man down late in the second half and in both overtimes, but still held on against a team fighting for every point to get in the playoffs."
In net, Brody Giblin stood tall for the Rams, stopping eight shots. Paul Steingraber stopped seven shots in net for Souderton.
