COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 0
Donna Spiteri led the Golden Hawks with six kills and two blocks as well as a service ace. Melissa Nicholas had eight assists. Sarah Lamon added three kills, three aces and a pair of digs.
“Overall, the team worked hard against a Tennent team that – despite injuries – kept giving the ball back to us,” Rock South coach Kelly Korn said. “I warned the team before the match that Tennent does not give up, that they will fight and keep pushing us.”
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, NESHAMINY 0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-20)
Setter Krista Campbell had 25 assists and five aces while Megan Hannagan led the Indians at the net with eight kills. Sam Rowen had 14 digs to lead the defense.
PENNRIDGE 3, SOUDERTON 0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-10)
The Lady Rams clinched their first SOL Continental Conference title since 2009 with Wednesday’s win over their neighboring rival. Ariana Pryzbylowski and Lauren Drugotch both had six kills and combined for five blocks. Setter Meghan Keefe had 27 assists and two aces. Victoria Jones had eight kills and two aces while sophomore Steph Judkins had a match high 13 kills.
For the Indians, setter Cori Watson had 20 assists and five aces. Savannah Bostwick had 14 digs to lead the defense. Miranda Baronett added eight digs. Melissa Gould (eight kills, eight digs) and Megan Freed (five kills, seven digs) led the Indians at the net.
Souderton will face Christopher Dock on Thursday in a non-league contest.
UPPER DUBLIN 3, WISSAHICKON 0 (25-7, 25-17, 25-23)
The Flying Cardinals celebrated Senior Night with a sweep of the visiting Trojans. Melanie Phifer had a big night at the service line, delivering 11 aces to go along with six kills and six digs. Taylor Stek had two aces, eight kills and four digs, and Sarah Dennin had eight kills and one dig. Gabbi Johnson had five aces and two digs, and Kelly Sun had three aces, five assists and four digs.
HATBORO-HORSHAM 3, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 2 (24-26, 18-25, 25-16, 25-21, 15-13)
The Hatters used a team effort to eke out a hard fought win over the Colonials in five sets. The offense was led by senior Sam Jones with 22 kills and four serving aces. Junior Jen Nesbitt was a big threat from the middle with 10 kills, and senior Alexa Kennedy added another six kills. Senior Candyce Riley dished out 38 assists and served three aces. On defense, Jones and sophomore Allison Laucella each had 25 digs, and Riley added another 16.
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-20)
The Patriots avenged an early season 3-2 loss to the Titans by turning the tables and sweeping their neighboring rival in Wednesday’s rematch.
“It was a great match for the Patriots,” coach Scott Geller said. “The girls had something to prove from the last time we played. It was a true team effort tonight.”
Bridget Terrel had a huge night at the net, delivering 15 kills. Natalie Arm contributed eight kills, five aces and four digs in an all-around effort. Julia Gallagher and Hannah LaMond each had four kills. Kelly Guillen and Krista Helveston also contributed with kills. Making it all work for the Patriots was setter Lauren Helveston, who dished out 30 assists.
The Patriots received great defense from Erin Lane, who had 13 digs, as well as Krista Helveston and Madie D’Angelo.
UPPER MERION 3, NORRISTOWN 0 (25-5, 25-7, 25-5)
The Vikings celebrated Senior Night by playing only seniors and playing well in their sweep of Norristown. Outside hitter Julia Reinert had a career-high nine kills, followed by Niki Carpenter, Kailyn McNamee, Eryn Brady and Emily Shannon with five kills each.
Ashley Shannon and Kailyn McNamee shared 15 assists, and Lana Fabia and Colleen Bullock shared 16 digs. With the win, the Vikings improved to 13-2. Upper Merion will travel to Abington Thursday.
ABINGTON 3, CHELTENHAM 0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-13)
The Ghosts rolled to a sweep of the neighboring Lady Panthers. Carley Cooper led the way at the net with 12 kills to go along with four digs and one block. Claire Gassman had nine kills, three digs and two aces. Leah Simmons had five kills, one block and one dig. Jamie Kidd had four digs, two assists and two aces. Setter Sarah Donahue had 24 assists, one block, one ace and one dig.
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, NORTH PENN 1 (25-16, 25-18, 19-25, 25-17)
The Bucks were led by the 11-kill effort of Sophi Videva, who also had six aces and 2.5 blocks. Julia Schweibenz had five kills, two aces and 13 digs. Setter Kayla King had 27 assists to go along with three kills, two aces and five digs. Kelly McKinstry led the defense with 20 digs. Ashley Juliano had two kills, one ace and 14 digs, and Deanna Mattioli had five kills and one block.
For the Maidens, Amy Pastuszak had a big night at the net with 12 kills and four blocks to go along with seven digs. Hannah Simon (five kills, six digs), Devon Markus (four kills, three blocks) and Sammy Powers (five kills, four aces, two blocks, three digs) also made important contributions.
