QUAKERTOWN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-17)
Terry Coulton had a big night at the net for the Panthers, contributing eight kills and five blocks. Dylan Flor had seven kills, one block and two aces while Mike Dierolf had six kills and one block. Also making important contributions at the net were Lucas Schan (five kills, two blocks), Zach Dierolf (three kills, one ace) and Chris Cowan (two kills).
Setter Xzavier Villanueva had 27 assists to go along with three aces. Nick Wesley led the defense with seven digs.
Quakertown (1-0) will travel to Central Bucks West on Wednesday.
PENNRIDGE 3, CHELTENHAM 0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-19)
Setter Jesse Smith handed out 16 assists to go along with four digs, two aces and two blocks. Lucas Hefner led the defense with nine digs. Ryan Spangler added seven digs.
In a balanced attack, the Rams received contributions from Brandon Greb (four kills, two blocks), Josiah Friesen (two kills, five blocks), Spangler (four kills), Jeremy Baum (two kills, two aces), Cross Edwards (two kills) and Sam Cullen (two kills).
Also contributing defensively for the Rams were Caleb Pennell (four digs, two aces) and Jon Bedillion (three digs, two aces).
The Rams (1-0) will travel to Central Bucks South on Wednesday night.
NORTH PENN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1
Henry Mallison led the Patriots offensively and defensively, contributing 12 kills and seven digs. He also had a pair of aces. Pierce Budson, Eric Chmiel and Chris Woolslayer each added eight kills. Woolslayer also had six digs. Jarred Minschwaner had two aces and five digs.
BENSALEM 3, HAVERFORD 1 (25-18, 12-25, 25-23, 25-13)
The Owls opened their season with a non-league win over the Fords, breaking a 1-1 tie with a hard-fought 25-23 win in the third set.
Paul Bas led the Owls with seven kills. Ronak Patel had 18 assists. Matt Gold chipped in with four kills, and Joey Conley led the defense with nine digs.
UPPER DUBLIN 3, SOUDERTON 0 (28-26, 25-18, 25-23)
The Flying Cardinals eked out a win in game one and rode that momentum to wins in the next two sets.
“The team put their best effort on the floor and came up short in winning game one – give credit to UD for pulling it out,” Souderton coach Dave Stastny said. “The win gave them momentum in game two, and our inexperience was showing by inconsistent play.
“If we can minimize our errors, we will be competitive going forward.”
UD setter Josh Komins had 25 assists to go along with three digs. Outside hitter Chris Kang had nine kills and six digs. Middle hitter Sam Flynn had six kills and 3.5 blocks. As a team, the Flying Cardinals had 20 digs, seven aces and 30 kills.
Setter Jack Pagan led the Indians with 20 assists and two aces. Luke Clemmer led the way at the net with seven kills while Jaret Gower led the defense with eight digs.
WHITEHALL 3, NESHAMINY 0 (26-24, 25-21, 25-15)
