SOUDERTON 4, HATBORO-HORSHAM 1
Alex Scheeler tossed a three-hitter to lead the Indians to a win over the Hatters in a Continental Conference showdown. The freshman hurler fanned four and did not walk a batter.
“She looked really good today,” coach Steph Rummell said. “We talked on the bus about her change-up because I believe that’s why she hasn’t been as successful as she was today.
“Her change-up has been very high, so it hasn’t been fooling people. I talked to her today about her release and maybe even taking a longer stride. She ended up taking a longer stride, and it helped her today. It kept batters off balance. They knew she had it, and they didn’t know what she was going to throw, so I think that’s why she was so effective.”
Scheeler did it all for the Indians on Monday. She also was 2-for-3 at the plate with a walk, RBI and run scored. Dayna Shelly was 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and run scored. The Indians, who had just six hits, were on the receiving end of five walks.
Scheeler put the Indians on the board with an RBI single in the third. The Hatters knotted the score in the fourth when Jen Cader, who had doubled, scored on a sacrifice fly by Brynn Griffith.
In the sixth inning, Alex Gaydos delivered a single to plate Shelly, who had doubled. Shelly and Missy Wiley each contributed an RBI in the Indians’ two-run seventh.
“This was good for my pitcher because it gives her a little bit of confidence,” Rummell said. “Every game she’s getting better, and that’s exactly what we want from her – just for her to continue to throw well and throw strikes. She didn’t walk anybody.
“I feel like at the beginning (of the season) in the Neshaminy game she was throwing a lot of balls. Now she’s getting into her groove and getting comfortable with the other girls.”
Souderton (2-1, 1-0 SOL) will host Quakertown on Tuesday while Hatboro-Horsham (1-1, 0-1) will travel to Central Bucks South.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 10, ABINGTON 2
Maddie Decker allowed just four hits and struck out 15 in an impressive performance at Abington.
“She pitched really, really well,” coach Dan Hayes said. “Knowing they had beaten Pennsbury in a slugfest, I figured they would swing the bats real good.
“She really controlled the game from start to finish. The run they scored in the first inning was unearned.”
At the plate, freshman Cassie Underkofler was an unlikely hero, finishing the day 3-for-4 with a double and reaching base on all four trips to the plate.
“She started because the girl we had started in left was out sick,” Hayes said. “She drove in a couple of runs with her and double stepped up real nice.”
Taylor Marinelli added a pair of hits.
The two teams exchanged single runs in the first. The Titans took a lead they would not lose with three runs in the third inning.
Central Bucks South (2-0, 1-0 SOL) will host Hatboro-Horsham on Tuesday while Abington (2-1, 1-0) will host Neshaminy.

Sarah Dowalo earned her first career win on Monday, and she did it in impressive fashion. The freshman lefthander threw a complete game shutout, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out 13 in seven innings.
Offensively, the Redskins received home runs from Sophie Beretski and Cailyn Seely. Sarah Snider-Leonhauser, Sam Offenbeck and Corrine Garuffe all had multiple hits while Olivia Zaino contributed a double.
The Redskins, who were without the services of junior outfield Mackensie Compton (illness), started three freshmen.
Tiana Brewington was 2-for-3 to lead the Warriors.

BENSALEM 3, LITTLE FLOWER 2
The Owls displayed a flair for the dramatic in Saturday’s non-league win, rallying from a 2-0 deficit to score three runs over the final two innings to eke out the win.
Little Flower plated single runs in the third and fifth innings to go on top 2-0.
In the sixth inning, Lauren Morell led off with a single, and the Owls had a pair on board after Erin McVicar legged out a bunt single. Both runners scored when Meg Nally delivered a triple.
In the bottom of the seventh, Maddie Sauer led off with a single and then stole second. Kelsey Dekoyer walked, and when Jackie Morell followed with an infield single, the bases were loaded. Lauren Morell drove a ball to the ride side, plating Sauer for the walk-off win.
Lauren Morell also had a big day behind the plate, gunning down a pair of runners attempting to steal.
Nally paced the Owls’ offense with a 2-for-3 effort that included a double, triple and two RBIs. McVicar was 2-for-3 with a run scored while Lauren Morell was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
“We came up big when we needed to,” coach Dan Schram said. “Jackie (Morell) did a nice job, especially since she was throwing with the wind blowing 40 miles an hour and blowing out to left field.
“My first three hitters did a nice job at the plate, and at the bottom of the lineup, Kelsey Dekoyer hit a nice double and made some great plays in right field.
“Little Flower is a good team. Playing conditions were not ideal with the wind, but we are finding different ways to win. We have a big week coming up.”
Bensalem (3-1, 0-1 SOL) will host Council Rock South on Tuesday and will travel to Pennsbury on Thursday.
