Quakertown 3, Souderton 0
Unfazed by the change in venue, the Panthers traveled to Souderton and came away with a hard fought win on Tuesday.
The game, originally scheduled for Memorial Stadium, was switched to Harleysville due to the weather, but it did not affect the Panthers who rode the strong pitching performance of Zack Metz and a three-run outburst in the fourth to the win in a game that was halted after six innings because of the weather. Highlights of the three-run fourth included singles by John Lilley and Friday as well as a walk.
Chris Curry boosted his batting average, thanks to a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate to pace the Panthers. He singled in the second, fourth, and sixth innings and also scored a run.
Metz earned the win, tossing five-and-one-third innings of shutout ball. Metz struck out three, walked two and gave up eight hits.
Nate Luscombe absorbed the loss for the Indians, allowing two earned runs on seven hits while striking out nine in six innings.
"Luscombe threw very hard and well, striking out nine of our guys," Quakertown coach Jon Pallone said. "We managed to bunch together a few hits with a walk and capitalized on a mistake.
"Zack Metz did a great job out there dealing with the rain. He threw nearly 70 percent strikes and kept us in the game. As it got late in the game, it was tough for both pitchers to get good traction on the mound or a grip on the ball, and neither guy complained about it. They just wanted to compete."
For the Indians, David Schreffler had two hits and Blake Gular went 1-for-2 with a double.

Wissahickon 5, Upper Moreland 4 (11 innings)
The Trojans found themselves trailing 3-1 going into their last at-bat, but they scored twice in the seventh to tie it and went on to win it in extra innings. Tuesday afternoon’s contest featured two ties and five lead changes in the 11-inning affair.
“This was so great for our kids,” said Wissahickon head coach Shannon Gunby. “They were chomping at the bit to get out there. Every guy on the team, on the bench was up for this game.”
In the two-run seventh, the Trojans capitalized on a walk and a couple of Upper Moreland errors. The big play in the inning came when the Golden Bears tried to turn a double play that would have ended the game, but a throwing error allowed the tying run to cross the plate, forcing extra frames.
“It was huge,” Gunby said of the error. “That makes it 3-3 and allows us to go to 11 innings.”
The Trojans got another big play in the bottom of the 11th when sophomore pitcher Matthew Shilling saved the game by snaring a line drive hit towards his head.
“He snapped it up and threw to third,” said Gunby. “It was the biggest play I’ve seen in high school in my career.”
Shilling earned the win in relief for Wissahickon. The sophomore hurler allowed just one hit and one run (unearned) in five strong innings while walking three and striking out seven.
Joe Bates ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision. He worked five innings in relief, allowing four hits and two unearned runs. He fanned a pair.
At the plate, Nicholas Falso, Alexander Tappen and Julian Osterneck (double) accounted for six of the Trojans’ eight hits. Osterneck also had an RBI and scored twice. David Kovacs also scored two runs.
