CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 8, AVON GROVE 7 (2 OT)
(Submitted article) Central Bucks East improved its record to 6-1, with an exciting come-from-behind, double overtime win against Avon Grove at War Memorial Field on Saturday afternoon.
East started off slowly and fell behind 4-1 at the end of the first quarter. East scored two goals in the second quarter and went into halftime trailing 5-3.
The Patriots came out in the second half and outplayed and outhustled Avon Grove. At the end of regulation, the score was knotted at seven goals apiece. There was no score by either team in the first four-minute overtime. Then in the second and final overtime, Ryan Brown scored the game-winning goal with 3:04 remaining on the clock to give East the victory.
The Patriots offense was led by Ryan Brown with four goals. Matt Vetter scored two goals and had three assists, while Matt Brown and Owen Griffin chipped in with one goal each. Jack Auteri had a pair of assists, and Logan Nelson added one assist.
The defense was led by goalie Sean McGovern, who was credited with 13 saves. Dustin Buchanan, senior LSM, was all over the field – he scooped up five ground balls and caused six turnovers. Bryan McIntosh had four ground balls while Mike Ott and Ryan Brown had three each.
Auteri won 6-o-f-11 face-offs.

WISSAHICKON 15, LOWER MERION 7
The Trojans jumped out of the gate to a 7-0 halftime lead. The Aces came out of halftime fired up, scoring a pair of quick goals to trim the Trojans’ lead to 7-2. Jack Shea – who finished with six goals and an assist – answered with a goal to give the Trojans control they would not lose.
In the fourth quarter, the Trojans’ defense – led by goalie Jack Myers (13 saves) – came up big in the fourth quarter, holding the Aces in check despite 10 penalties.
Nate DeGroat had four goals and two assists, and John Carozza also had a hand in six goals, connecting for two goals and four assists. Alex Chiodo Ortiz had a hat trick and one assist while John Esposito, Eric Kaufmann and John Dickson each contributed an assist for the Trojans.
ABINGTON 19, LANSDALE CATHOLIC 5
The Ghosts jumped out to an 11-4 halftime lead and coasted to the decisive win over the Crusaders.
Cameron Leech had a hand in 10 goals, contributing five goals and five assists. Joey Lomady had six goals and one assist, and Hunter Jones added five goals and one assist. John Wink had one goal and two assists while Jimmy Lomady added a pair of goals. Jack Kurtz had an assist.
Connor Reed had seven saves in goal while Luke Werner had four saves.
WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 9, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3
Rustin took a 2-1 lead at the end of one quarter and extended that to 5-2 by halftime on its way to a win. The Bucks held a 31-20 advantage in shots, but the advantage was negated by the 24-save effort of Rustin goalie Kyle Mullin.
Morgan Kratzke, Will Ross and Shane Early each scored single goals for the Bucks. Contributing assists were Ross, Reece Udinski and Clark Hawes.
Luke Durkin won 10-of-16 face-offs for the Bucks. Goalie Steve Hogan was credited with six saves.

Girls
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 8, BAYARD RUSTIN 7
The Indians took to the road on Saturday and won a come-from-behind thriller.
The two teams were deadlocked with four minutes remaining when the Indians won the draw and connected for the game winner with two minutes remaining. They won the ensuing draw and held on for the big win.
Rock North, which won 13 draws, trailed 6-2 at halftime but outscored their hosts 6-1 in the second half.
Anna Lehman was part of six goals, scoring three and assisting on three, while Devon Mela had a hand in five goals, scoring three and assisting on two others. Claire Jarema and Megan Haggerty both added single goals. Greta Rolli chipped in with an assist.
Goalie Margaret D’Auria turned away nine of 16 shots she faced.

AGNES IRWIN 17, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 7
The Titans took on an Owls squad whose only loss came at the hands of highly regarded Episcopal Academy (8-7), and for the better part of 50 minutes, they held their own.
The Owls led 4-0 midway through the opening quarter, but the Titans – sparked by a pair of goals from Tori Wigand and a single goal by Kasey Dietzel – played them even the rest of the half, trailing 7-3 at the intermission.
Three straight goals to open the second half gave the Owls a 10-3 lead, but the Titans trimmed that lead to five after back-to-back goals by Krysta Reading 10 minutes into the second half.
Tori Wigand added her third goal of the game and Courtney Dietzel scored a single goal, but the Titans would get no closer the rest of the way.
Sarah Poli had five ground balls, and Jenny Haas and Ali Fisher had three goals each. Hayley Montana had four caused turnovers. South goalie Erin Putnam was credited with six saves.
Lila Barker, a University of Virginia recruit, had five goals, and Princeton recruit Laura Pansini had four. Harvard recruit Hannah Keating had the hat trick.
LOWER MERION 11, WISSAHICKON 8
Wissahickon got off to a fast start, scoring first against Lower Merion in Saturday’s non-league Checking for Cancer event. However, during the first half, Lower Merion continued to fire shots on goalie Kyra Myers, who did an excellent job and made five saves overall.
At halftime, Lower Merion led 7-2, but that didn't stop Wissahickon. The girls came back to score six goals to Lower Merion's four in the second half. The Trojans played their game in the second half and showed they would not let down.
Two goals each were scored by Lauren Irvine, Emily Vervlied and Carolyn Wilde. Marie Dickson and Shannon Stagliano each scored one. Stagliano, Vervlied and Claire Tarzia all had one assist.
