Check out the results for SOL baseball teams in action Tuesday.
Upper Moreland 17, William Tennent 7
After winning their first league game of the season on Monday, the Golden Bears were hoping to make two straight wins in Tuesday’s non-league affair.
A five-run second and a four-run fourth is all the Bears needed in their rout of the Panthers. While it seemed as though the five runs they scored in the second would be plenty, Tennent had other ideas, scoring six in the fifth to close the gap to 9-7, but the Bears came out smoking again as they put up an eight spot in the home fifth to put the game away.
UM’s Danny Pagano came on in relief in the third to pick up the win. He went two innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits while striking out two.
At the plate, Paul Ciampoli led the Bears’ attack with three hits, including a double. He added two RBIs and scored twice. Connor Casey (double), Christian Leighton, Randy Meehl and Connor O’Hagan each had two hits and two runs scored. Casey and Meehl had three RBIs each while Leighton knocked in four runs and O’Hagan knocked in two.
The Panthers were led by HA Shapiro, who had two hits including a homerun and three RBIs, while Tim Broadhag went 1-for-2 with a homer and three RBIs.
Upper Moreland (3-3, 1-2 SOL) will travel to Cheltenham on Wednesday while William Tennent (0-5, 0-3) will host Abington.

Springfield 3, Plymouth Whitemarsh 2
The Colonials took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning when their defense betrayed them, allowing a pair of unearned Spartan runs to cross the plate. Those two runs proved to be the difference in the game as the Spartans held on for the 3-2 win.
Both teams managed just five hits. Zach Metz let the Colonials with a 2-for-4 day. Gavin Brody had a double.
For the Spartans, Cory Cottone was 2-for-3. Mike Johnston was 1-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.
Senior Julian Salzer allowed five hits and two runs (one earned) in the complete game win. He struck out six and walked just one. PW’s Evan Bischoff pitched well enough to win on most days, allowing five hits and three runs (all unearned) in six strong innings. He fanned seven and did not walk a batter.
Springfield (2-4 SOL) will travel to Christopher Dock for a non-league game Wednesday while Plymouth Whitemarsh (1-6, 1-4) is off until next Tuesday when the Colonials will host Norristown.

Cheltenham 10, Central Bucks West 4
The Panthers scored early and often on their way to the non-league win Tuesday, pounding out 10 hits and benefitting from four West errors and four free passes.
Cheltenham scored two runs in the first, three in both the second and third and one in the fourth to go on top 9-0 before the Bucks plated four in the fourth. That was as close as they would get the rest of the way.
Jack Gordon led the Panthers’ hit parade with a 3-for-4 effort with two RBIs and one run. Joel White was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Alex Haasz also was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Gabe Hofferman contributed a triple.
