SOUDERTON 3, CHELTENHAM 0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-16)
On March 25, the Indians won their first two games of their match against Cheltenham only to drop the next three as the Panthers escaped with a 3-2 win. They made sure there would be no reruns this time around, sweeping the Panthers in Monday’s rematch.
“It was a total team victory, and that is the way it should be,” coach Dave Stastny said. “It was an all-around good effort from every player on the roster.”
Sam Hess led the Indians with 13 kills while Mike Pagan added five kills.
“Luke Clemmer and Nate Klaus also had strong all-around games,” Stastny said. “Cheltenham played with great heart and desire – I applaud their players and coach for their effort.”
QUAKERTOWN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 1 (25-20, 25-23, 30-32, 25-17)
Talk about turning the tables – the Panthers did just that with Monday’s win, avenging a 3-0 sweep at the hands of the Bucks in an early season match with a big win. The Panthers won the first two and then fell in a marathon third set (30-32) but rebounded to win the fourth game.
Dylan Flor – fresh off an MVP performance at the Dock Tournament – turned in a monster performance to lead the Panthers, finishing with 31 kills and 10 digs. Also contributing at the net were Coulton Terry (14 kills, three blocks, seven digs), Lucas Schan (nine kills, three blocks, four digs), Mike Dierolf (eight kills, 16 digs) and Zach Dierolf (three kills, three blocks).
Setter Xavier Villanueva had a busy night, handing out 51 assists to go along with five kills and 12 digs. Libero Nick Wesley had 24 digs while Jeff Prusch (seven digs) and Matt Clifford (five digs) also contributed defensively.
NESHAMINY 3, BENSALEM 2 (19-25, 20-25, 25-14, 25-20, 15-10)
The Redskins found themselves staring at a 2-0 hole after two sets but staged a gutsy comeback to win in five in Monday’s tightly contested match.
Setters Miggy Montalvo (20 assists, three kills, one block, two digs) and Dante Benincasa (25 assists, one block) had huge nights. On the receiving end of those sets were Kyle Denis (17 kills, four blocks, eight digs), Shaun Kelly (10 kills, four aces, one block, three digs) and Joey Verrecchio (nine kills, two aces, two blocks, two digs).
Defensively, the Redskins were led by Teddy Krimmel (15 digs, one ace) and Skyler Levin (10 digs, one ace). Also making contributions were Tyler McCaw (four kills, one block) and Chad Wiatrowski (four kills, five blocks, one dig).
For the Owls, Paul Bas (16 kills, three blocks) and Sam Makidon (nine kills, two blocks) led the way at the net. Ronak Patel had 32 assists.
WILLIAM TENNENT 3, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 2 (16-25, 17-25, 25-23, 25-22, 15-11)
It’s always a classic battle when the neighboring rivals meet on the volleyball court, and Monday’s match was certainly no exception. The Indians appeared poised to avenge an early season 3-2 loss at the hands of the Panthers when they won the first two sets. The Panthers, however, had other ideas, battling back to earn the win in five sets.
Jake Milnazik was unstoppable at the net, finishing with 33 kills in an overpowering performance to go along with one ace and four blocks. Will Towle had a huge night at the net as well, delivering 16 kills as well as nine digs. Setter Kyle Lewicki had 53 assists and two blocks. Tom Del Conte added six kills and three blocks, and Noah Chast led the defense with 13 digs.
For the Indians, setter Logan Fulgestad had 27 assists and 10 digs. Eric Van Thuyne led the defense with 17 digs to go along with three assists. The Indians were led at the net by Josh Hinton (12 kills, 11 digs), Jason Yakimiv (10 kills, seven blocks, one assist), Will Stollsteimer (eight kills, nine digs, one block, one assist), Will Sesautelle (six kills, two blocks, two digs) and Nick Reich (five kills, two digs, one block). Dalton Abrahamsen had seven assists and six digs.
Rock North will host Pennsbury on Wednesday.
PENNSBURY 3, ABINGTON 0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-20)
The Falcons used a balanced effort in Monday’s sweep of the visiting Ghosts. Kenny Hickman had a big night at the service line with seven aces. He also had five kills (.333 hitting percentage), one dig and one block. Sean Sweeney had 11 kills, two assists, one ace and three digs, and David Levey had a team-high 15 kills to go along with five digs.
Defensively, Brad Edwards led the Falcons with 10 digs and also added three assists. Setter Kevin Killoran had 21 assists to go along with one kill and six digs. Also contributing were Mason Reilley (one kill, one block), Steve Spong (one kill), Josh Leon (two assists, one ace, one dig, one block), Michael Geary (four assists, one ace, three digs) and James Greenland (two kills, four digs, one block).
For the Ghosts, setter Tim Seydel had 15 assists and seven digs. Jay Bynum had five blocks, and Matt Penecale had eight kills.
PENNRIDGE 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-21)
Setter Bradley Nase had 18 assists, four blocks and two aces while Jesse Smith added eight assists. Ben Chinnici had a team high 10 kills to go along with six digs and three aces. Devon Rice (three kills, two aces), Henry Savage (three kills, four aces), Aaron Nelson (four kills, three blocks) and Brian Rosenberg (four kills) also contributed at the net. Max McVaugh (six digs) and Caleb Pennell (five digs) contributed defensively.
Pennridge (10-0) will travel to Central Bucks East on Wednesday night.
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 1
The Patriots received big performances both offensively and defensively from Chris Woolslayer (13 kills, 10 digs, one ace) and Jarred Minschwaner (10 kills, nine digs). Also contributing at the net were Eric Chmiel (seven kills), Pierce Budson (six kills), Jake Staub (five kills) and Shawn Malone (four kills).
Mason Miller had a team-high 12 digs to go along with two kills and one ace. He also had 26 assists. Henry Mallison added seven digs. Carter Haban had 14 assists and three digs.
