FOGO Ryan Jacobsen Sparks CB South to Win; Tanner Scores 6 Goals
Warrington, PA -FOGO Ryan Jacobsen won seven consecutive draws and Chris Tanner scored four of his game-high six goals to lead Central Bucks South on a 7-0 run as the Titans defeated Hatboro Horsham 17-6 in Suburban One Continental Division Boys lacrosse action on Wednesday night at soggy CB South Stadium.
The undefeated Titans (10-0, 8-0 SOL Continental) jumped out to a 4-0 lead, thanks to two early goals by Brendan McGrath and one each by Tanner and Austin Naessens, before Tony Zollo put the Hatters on the board. The Titans then recorded four unanswered goals, with two consecutive goals coming from Dillon Kelly, one from Ian Vogt and one coming on a blast off the stick of Michael Dutkiewicz. The Hatters closed out the first half scoring on a goal from Brian Remailey to make it 7-2 at the break.

But sparked by the dominating play of Jacobsen (15/25 draws, 5 groundballs), the prolific Titan offense reeled off seven goals in a row to take a commanding 14-3 lead mid-way through the fourth quarter. The run started on a goal by Evan Falkowski and was followed by three consecutive scores by Tanner, who then took turns with line-mate McGrath as they scored three more before the Hatters Conor McPoyle stopped the bleeding. The Titans closed out their scoring on goals by
Naessens, Tanner and Falkowski, while Hatboro-Horsham got an additional goal by Zollo and one from Pierre Armstrong.
The stout Titans’ defense was led by Jake Henze with eight groundballs, while Tim “The Vacuum” Ross picked up five. The Patriots had reason to celebrate on Wednesday, earning their first league win of the season with a win over the Indians. It didn’t matter that they played the first half on Rock North’s grass field and – because of deteriorating field conditions – the second half on the turf.
“I feel like the win was long overdue,” coach Kelly White said. “I’m proud of them because I think at this point when you’re handed so many losses and some of them very close games and some of them – in my opinion – should have been a win, you can kind of get caught in that cycle of defeat.
“I really was proud of them today for the fact that they dug deep and they saw a whole 50 minutes of the game through.”
The Patriots left no doubt about their intentions to get into the win column, opening up a 7-2 halftime lead. They never looked back.
“I really have to give a shout-out to my defense,” said White, lauding the defensive efforts of Taylor Seguine, Sara Donnelly, Julia Adams and Kayla Bartl. “I feel like in so many of the games we’ve been close – big games against CB West and North Penn – my defense has really come through, including obviously Alana (Rivas) in that.
“I feel as though they don’t get the recognition they deserve.”
Senior Alana Rivas was once again stellar in goal, turning away 14 of 19 shots she faced.
Junior Katelyn Stout led the Patriots’ attack with four goals and two assists. Bella Ridolfi and Riley Donnelly both had two goals and one assist while Maggie Vetter and Betty Wesney each added a pair of goals. Courtney Narkoff had a pair of assists.
“What I was proud about today is that at the end of the day, our attack needed to get the job done, and they needed to control the ball and be composed and play with confidence,” White said. “We’re not where we need to be, but I felt today with some of the adjustments I made I feel like we’re moving in the right direction.”
Stepping up was freshman Courtney Narkoff in her first start.
“I do want to give her credit,” White said. “I thought she did a great job stepping up. She showed speed, she showed transition – being able to handle the ball, move the ball, and she came up with two assists as a freshman. That’s pretty fantastic.”
For the Indians, Anna Lehman finished with the hat trick to go along with one assist, and Devon Mela added a pair of goals.
While the Indians fell to 0-3 in league play (1-6 overall), the Patriots are 1-3 in the league (2-8 overall).
“I felt it’s well deserved,” White said of Wednesday’s league win. “They worked so hard in the offsesason. They sacrificed so much time from September to the beginning of the season, and just as a coach, you want them to experience success and feel good about themselves.
“To work so hard and to come out on the loss end so many times in a row is a tough place for any player, but especially at the high school level, to be at.”

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 13, PENNRIDGE 12
The Bucks won a hard fought game at War Memorial Field on Wednesday night, withstanding a late Pennridge rally to earn the win.
“Defensively, we did not have a strong game today,” West coach Tara Schmucker said. “We were slow to anticipate, and we were not playing with our feet.
“Pennridge did a nice job in the last five minutes to not give up and (score) three goals. Offensively, instead of possessing or seeing the smart option, we unfortunately turned the ball over too many times and allowed them to make it close. We continue to have ups an downs, but we came out with a win at least.”
Jacq Fitzgerald and Meghan Tillger led the Bucks with four goals and one assist. Elle Ueland had two goals and two assists, and Paige Savard added two goals. Meghan Darcy had one goal. Bryn Boylan contributed a pair of assists while Olivia Fitzgerald had one assist.
“Jacq Fitzgerald had a nice all-around game with four goals, an assist, four ground balls, one caused turnover and three draws,” Schmucker said. “And Paige Savard was a big, speedy presence in the midfield and during transition.”
The Bucks opened up a 9-6 halftime lead, but the visiting Lady Rams didn’t go down quietly.
“We started off the game a little slow, falling behind by either one or two goals,” Pennridge coach Karen Schnurr said. “The team worked extremely hard in the second half, coming up with some great defensive stops and key attack plays.”
Sophomore Jen Rodzewich (three goals, three assists, one draw control) and freshman Grace Loughery (three goals, one draw control) led a balanced Lady Ram attack. Jess Csaszar added two goals and two draw controls, and Maddie Dachowski had one goal and two assists. Kate Ziegler, Devan Rimmer and Aimee Beck each added one goal. Rimmer also had two draw controls.
Goalie Carley Wingate was credited with eight saves.
“Jen Rodzewich had one of her best games of the season,” Schnurr said. “She hustled back to defense and played her heart out.
“Csaszar and Dachowski showed their strength on the attack end. Loughery continues to be powerful in the midfield. Freshman Casey Hefner played solid defense and really stepped up on that end.
“The second half was our game, but unfortunately, it was a little too late. I think this team has great potential and can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings.”
