COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, PENNSBURY 0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-18)
The Indians notched their first win over the Falcons since 2012. In Wednesday’s sweep, Rock North’s hitting percentage was a dazzling. 472. Will Stollsteimer led the way with 11 kills and a remarkable .846 hitting percentage.
“Our team energy and focus was consistent throughout every point in tonight’s match, and the commitment from each player on our team contributed to our success tonight,” coach Greg Marchetti said. “We took a step in the right direction tonight, and we need to continue building momentum as we push through the second half of our 18-match schedule. We still have eight matches to play by May 6 when we visit Pennsbury.”
Stollsteimer also had two digs. Jason Yakimiv (five kills, two blocks), Nick Reich (five kills, one block, one dig, one ace), Will Desautelle (four kills, five blocks) and Josh Hinton (three kills, four digs, two blocks, one ace) kept the Falcons guessing at the net. Setters Logan Fuglestad (15 assists, three digs) and Dalton Abrahamsen (11 assists, seven digs) had plenty of options. Sean Lyon (two kills, one block) and Eric Van Thuyne (eight digs, one assist) also contributed.
Rock North will host Bensalem on Thursday.
ABINGTON 3, NESHAMINY 2 (26-28, 25-18, 25-27, 27-25, 15-13)
The Ghosts eked out the five-set win over the Redskins. Leading the way at the net were Matt Penecale (17 kills) and Joe Bynum (14 kills). Bynum also delivered 13 blocks. Setter Tim Seydel had 47 assists, and Ben Razzi had seven blocks.
For the Redskins, setters Miggy Montalvo (15 assists) and Dante Benincasa (35 assists, two blocks, five digs) combined for 50 assists. Kyle Denis led the ‘Skins at the net with 24 kills to go along with five aces, one block and seven digs. Shaun Kelly added 15 kills, one ace and two digs. Joe Verrecchio had five kills, seven blocks and three digs. Ty McCaw (three kills) and Chad Wiatrowski (three kills, three blocks) also contributed at the net. Defensively, Teddy Krimmel led the way with 18 digs while Skyler Levin had eight digs and one ace.
NORTH PENN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-13)
Setter Mark Elias spread the ball around with 30 assists and also had six digs and three aces. Connor Sloan (nine kills, seven digs, five assists), Jake Walter (eight kills, three aces), Tim Dickinson (six kills, eight digs), Steven Landes (seven kills) and Harsh Boghara (five kills) led a balanced attack at the net. Manaan Patel led the defense with six digs.
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, SOUDERTON 2 (25-21, 25-18, 24-26, 23-25, 15-9)
The Indians extended the Bucks to five sets, but the Bucks prevailed.
“We played one of our best matches of the year but were unable to come away with a win,” coach Dave Stastny said. “CB West played a strong defensive game.”
Junior Sam Hess led the Indians with 21 kills, and Derek DiCesare had 15 digs.
For the Bucks, libero Sam Winderman had 50 digs in a busy night. Daniel Klapper (20 kills, 24 digs), Will Varner (18 kills, 25 digs) and Ryan Alu (14 kills, 21 digs) had big nights both defensively and at the net. Setter Matt Douple had 60 assists and 10 digs.
PENNRIDGE 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1 (25-17, 25-27, 25-19, 25-12)
Bradley Nase handed out 44 assists and also added 12 digs and two blocks in a solid all-around performance. Max McVaugh led the Rams defensively with 26 digs as well as two aces. Jesse Smith had 14 digs. At the net, the Rams were led by the double-digit kill efforts of Ben Chinnici (18 kills, four blocks), Henry Savage (11 kills, seven blocks) and Devon Rice (11 kills, 15 digs). Jon Long (five kills, three blocks) and Aaron Nelson (four kills) also contributed at the net.
For the Patriots, Henry Mallison (five kills, one ace) and Chris Woolslayer (five kills, even digs) led the way. Shawn Malone had four kills and one-and-one-half blocks while Pierce Budson added four-and-a-half blocks and one kill. Jarred Minschwaner led the defense with nine digs to go along with one ace. Setters Mason Miller (11 assists, three digs) and Carter Haban (nine assists) combined for 20 assists. Jake Staub added two kills and one dig.
