SPRINGFIELD (MONTCO) 9, UPPER MORELAND 7
The visiting Spartans staged a remarkable comeback to win Monday’s battle for second place in the conference standings, scoring six runs over the final two innings to erase a 7-3 deficit and earn the 9-7 win.
The Spartans won it with a two-run seventh inning, breaking a 7-7 tie when Kaitlyn Cannon delivered a clutch two-run single.
On a day that saw the Spartans pound out 12 hits, Jewell Ringgold led the way with a perfect 4-for-4 effort that included a triple and home run. She led the Spartans with three RBIs and three runs scored. Her two-run triple highlighted a four-run sixth. Brianna Littlepage was 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored. Cannon was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and one run. Jen Hammons and Alyssa Ard each had a double and one RBI.
Ringgold’s solo home run and Ard’s RBI double in the top of the first put the Spartans on top 2-0, but the Golden Bears answered with a run in the bottom of the inning. The two teams exchanged single runs in the second, and the Golden Bears appeared to be in command when they scored five in the fifth, but the Spartans had other ideas, rallying for the important win.
Allie Miller was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored to lead the Golden Bears.
Hammons earned the win for the Spartans, allowing seven hits and seven runs – none earned – while walking three and fanning five.
Springfield maintained its stronghold on second place in the conference standings, upping its league mark to 5-1 (5-2 overall) while the Golden Bears are 3-2 in the league (3-3 overall).

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 7, NORRISTOWN 4
The Colonials brought a welcome end to a six-game losing streak, setting the early tone for Monday’s win with two runs in the first and four more in the second. The Eagles plated three runs in the fifth, but it wasn’t enough to dig their way out of their early hole.
Ashley Yeager earned the win on the mound. She received helped from the Colonials’ defense who thwarted a threatening Eagles’ offense by turning two double plays in the game.
Instrumental in those plays, according to coach Dana Moyer, were Lauren Fuhrmeister, Ashley Yeager, Ragan Ebersole and Amanda Galczyk.
Offensive standouts for the Colonials were Ebersole, who was 2-for-4, and Kaleigh Branagh, who tripled and scored twice. Yeager helped her own cause with a 2-for-3 effort at the plate that included an RBI.
Both teams are 1-6 in conference play.

WILLIAM TENNENT 2, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0
Kalisi Taufelele tossed a one-hit gem in Monday’s non-league game against the visiting Titans, walking none and fanning five in the complete game shutout. The Panthers played flawless defense behind the junior pitcher, who faced just 22 batters.
“It was the perfect setup for us from the standpoint that we finally put two thirds of the game together,” coach Biz Keeny said. “We defended very well, and I thought Kalisi challenged them.
“Her location was very good today compared to some of her other days. She threw ahead in the count instead of behind in the count. She’s not overpowering, but her ball has movement. Some of it is late movement up in the zone, but clearly, it was her best effort to this point.”
Tufelele took a perfect game into the fifth when senior Maddie Bieber collected a one-out single. Unfazed, the junior pitcher retired the next 11 batters she faced.
“I thought she threw the ball extremely well, and we did enough hitting to win,” Keeny said. “It’s not like we knocked the cover off the ball.”
Sara Keeny, who was 3-for-3, ensured that Taufelele went home a winner. It was her leadoff triple in the first that set the stage for the game’s first run. She crossed the plate when Marissa Govan’s grounder was misplayed.
That 1-0 lead stood until the fifth, and once again it was Keeny igniting the Panthers. The speedy leadoff batter singled and then stole second. Keeny – with coach Keeny waving her on at third – raced all the way home from second on Govan’s infield single up the middle, giving the Panthers a 2-0 lead that held the rest of the way.
Alexis McConomy pitched well enough to win on most days. The Titans’ sophomore hurler allowed just five hits and two runs while fanning two and walking none.
“It was a good win for us,” Keeny said. “They (the Titans) are trying to feel their way through some things without Maddie (Decker), and you could tell, but our kids played well.”
The Panthers improved to 4-7 overall (1-6 SOL) while the Titans, who fell for the third time in four games, are 7-4 overall (5-3 SOL).

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 6, CHELTENHAM 4
It was a big day for the hitters on both squads when the Golden Hawks traveled to Cheltenham for a non-league contest. The Panthers and Hawks combined for 23 hits with the Hawks accounting for 12 of those.
Stephanie Andreoli led the way with a perfect 4-for-4 day that included two doubles and a home run and two RBIs. Chelsea Perkins and Katelyn Gaudet were both 2-for-3.
The Golden Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but freshman Morgan Gianelle erased that in the bottom of the inning with one swing of the bat when she hit a two-run home run. The Golden Hawks knotted the score with a single run in the third and took a lead they would not lose when Perkins delivered a three-run home run in the fourth inning to put the Hawks on top 5-2.
The Golden Hawks stretched that lead to 6-2 with a single run in the sixth, but the Lady Panthers answered with two in the bottom of the frame for the 6-4 final.
Maddie and Morgan Gianelle as well as Maddie Bear (triple) and Grace DeRosa (double) led the Lady Panthers with two hits each.

Indians give back to community
Instead of taking a rare day off on Sunday, Council Rock North’s players volunteered their time to assist at the Miracle League games in Northampton Park. Each player was assigned an athlete, who went through a series of stations – hitting off tees, fielding and throwing.
After going through the stations, the players stretched and prepared for the game. The best part of the day, according to coach Chris McDermott, was watching her players assist the special needs athletes as they played a game.
“They ran next to them to the bases, they helped put the ball in their gloves and ran after balls,” the Indians’ coach said. “Watching my girls give back was just (heartwarming) because at the end of the day – that’s what matters, using the talents given to them to teach others and give them happiness.
“There were lots of smiling faces and hugs.”
