Witchey and Ross lead CB South to Senior Night Win Over Souderton
Doylestown, PA: Kevin Witchey and Timmy Ross helped Central Bucks South hold Souderton scoreless for more than three quarters in leading the Titans to an 8-5 victory in Suburban One Continental Boys lacrosse action on Thursday night at War Memorial Field.
After finding themselves in a 3-0 hole midway through the first quarter, the Titans tightened up their defense while scoring eight straight goals to take a 8-3 lead midway through the fourth quarter to put the game away.
CB South got their offensive streak started late in the first quarter when Dillon Kelly beat a Souderton defender from behind the net to score on goalie Remi Reeves. The second quarter started with Chris Tanner feeding Brendan McGrath for the Titans’ second score, which was followed by an unassisted blast from Evan Falkowski to knot the score 3-3 at the half.
The Titans came out firing in the third quarter, with Jamie Renaissen scoring off a feed from Evan Falkowski as CB South took their first lead of the game. Brendan McGrath than scored his second of the game off a feed from Jake Henze, which was followed by a McGrath assist on a goal by Chris Tanner. The Titans then took a 7-3 lead on a behind the back goal by Evan Falkowski off a shot that ricocheted off the post. Dillon Kelly closed out the Titans scoring in the fourth quarter when he put home a spectacular bounce pass from Jack “the dodger” Gallagher. Souderton added two goals in the game’s final minute to make it an 8-5 final.
Keying the defense was Ross and Witchey, with Witchey causing 10 Souderton turnovers, while Ross scooped up a team-high 7 groundballs. Fellow Titan defenders Danny Shields, Jake Lautt and Steve Nowelski were also instrumental in holding Souderton to only 11 shots on goal for the game. CB South Goalie Rob Richick recorded 6 saves.
For Souderton, Greg Gibbs scored three goals, while Jeremy Biggins had a goal and an assist and Anthony Potts added a goal. Remi Reeves was outstanding in the net, recording 19 saves.
With the win, CB South (12-2, 10-1 SOL Continental) remains tied atop the SOL Continental Standings, along with CB East, while Souderton drops to 5-9 (1-9 SOL Continental).

Upper Dublin continued to roll, defeating host Upper Merion to remain undefeated in the conference.
The Cardinals (13-1, 10-0) were led by Max Winebrake’s five goals and Michael Mullen’s three. Evan Scott assisted on five goals, while Ben Abel scored twice and assisted on another goal. Nicholas Vernacchio and Jed Hanson each tallied a goal and an assist. Scoring one goal were Connor Wall, Michael Gillen and Nash Potts. Cary Romig and Jack Rapine both had one assist.
Bobby McPeak stopped three shots in net before being replaced by Sean Bowers, who stopped five. Dillon Lojeski recorded one save.
Upper Merion (5-11, 5-7) scored its only goal in the third quarter when Nick Freda found the net. Senior Troy Minnich was credited with nine saves in goal.

Germantown Academy 13, North Penn 2The Knights trailed 3-1 after one quarter and remained within striking distance at halftime, trailing 5-2. The Patriots owned the second half, outscoring the Knights 8-0.
The Knights fell to 4-10 overall with the loss.

Allentown Central Catholic 15, Plymouth Whitemarsh 7
The Colonials host Allentown Central Catholic in a non-conference meeting and came out on the short end of the score, falling behind 6-3 at halftime.
Alex Saverese scored three goals to lead PW (8-6), while Kenny Diamond scored twice. Pat
McGrath scored once, while Zach Zygmunt assisted on two goals.
