CONTINENTAL CONFERENCE
Hatboro-Horsham 3, Pennridge 2 (8 innings)
The Hatters have a very difficult week ahead but the players and head coach Pete Moore, wouldn’t have it any other way. Of course, they would love nothing more than to have already won the conference title, but that will be up for grabs on Wednesday afternoon.
Seniors Kevin Barron, Eric Lane, and Justin Gregorio led the Hatters to a 3-2 extra inning win.
“To be the best, you need to beat the best,” Moore said. “Going into this week, we knew we needed two wins for a share of the title. We took care of the first one today.
“Pennridge is an outstanding team.”
The Hatters won in dramatic fashion as they answered back matching single run tallies by the Rams twice and then held on to the lead provided by a Barron eighth inning home run.
“It was the Kevin Barron day,” Moore said. “I couldn’t be more proud of the effort he put out there today.”
Pennridge struck first, scoring one run in the first inning when Tommy Nuneviller singled, advanced to third on a Danny Long double and then scored on a David Tatoian RBI groundout. The Hatters answered back in the second when Barron doubled, advanced to third on a fly out by Alec Blyler and scored on a sac fly by Justin Gregorio.
Pennridge took a 2-1 lead in the third inning when Horne singled, advanced to second on a balk and scored on a two-out single by Danny Long. In the top of the fourth, the Hatters again answered back when Barron singled, advanced to third on a Blyler sacrifice bunt that was misplayed, putting Hatter runners to put Hatter runners on first and third. A sacrifice fly by Gregorio knotted the score 2-2.
The Hatters took the lead for good in the eighth when Barron blasted a home run to left field to put the Hatters up 3-2 and make a winner out of senior Eric Lane.
Lane pitched seven innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits while striking out 10 and walking none. Senior Ryan Murphy came on to earn the save in the eighth inning.
The Hatters (11-7 Overall, 10-3 SOL) will travel to North Penn on Wednesday with a share of the SOL Continental title on the line.
“North Penn is looking to get a title, and we are looking to have our names on a banner in the gymnasium,” said Moore. “It’s going to be an all-hands on deck game.”

Wissahickon (14-3, 12-1 SOL) had been cruising through conference play all season long until a minor hiccup last week. The Trojans, though, responded when they needed to the most and took over sole possession of first place and ensured themselves of at least a tie for the conference title with one game remaining, thanks to Monday’s come-from-behind to win in extra innings over Upper Dublin (12-7, 11-2 SOL).
The Trojans scored the game winner in the eighth inning on an RBI double by by Nick Falso that plated Jeremy Spittle.

The Indians’ aspirations to clinch a playoff berth received a major boost with their win over Abington on Monday.
