COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 8, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 2
The Golden Hawks earned bragging rights with a win in the Backyard Battle at Trenton Thunder’s Arm & Hammer Park on Saturday with proceeds from the game donated to the Travis Manion Foundation.
The Golden Hawks scored two runs in the first and blew the game wide open with five runs in a fourth inning that included singles by Joe Shragher and Josh Kim as well as a triple by Matt Smith. They led 8-0 before the Indians plated two runs in the fifth.
Smith (2-for-3, 3B, 3 RBIs, 2 runs), Kim (2-for-4, RBI, run) and Ryan Kolimaga (2-for-3, run) led the Hawks. Evan Fisher and John Crane each had an RBI.
Lucas Feinstein (2-for-3) and Cavan Tully (2-for-3, run) had multi-hits for the Indians. Joe Preciado had an RBI.
Zach Mayer earned the win for the Hawks, allowing five hits and striking out three with no walks in four shutout innings.
Council Rock South (8-7, 6-4 SOL) will host North Penn on Monday, and Council Rock North (8-7, 6-4) will host Abington on Monday.

Non-league
PENNSBURY 7, HOLY GHOST PREP 0
It took five pitchers, but the Falcons threw a no-hitter at the Firebirds in a non-league contest on Saturday. Alec Wilson threw two scoreless innings, striking out one and walking none. Shane Ostrowsky followed with two scoreless frames that included two strikeouts and no walks. Nat Derry, Ben Spadea and Christian Buchler each threw a scoreless inning with one strikeout and one walk.
The Falcons played error-free ball behind their pitchers.
Ryan McCarty (2-for-4, double, 3 RBIs, run), Justin Massielo (2-for-2, 3 RBIs) and Dave Murphy (2-for-3, 4 RBIs).
The Falcons scored three runs in the third and two more in the fourth. The Firebirds never threatened.
Pennsbury (10-6, 6-2 SOL) will travel to Neshaminy for a key conference showdown on Monday

SOUTHERN LEHIGH 9, QUAKERTOWN 1
Southern Lehigh scored one in the first and two more in the second, opening up a 7-0 lead before the visiting Panthers got on the scoreboard in the top of the sixth in Saturday night’s non-league contest.
Quakertown (10-4, 8-2 SOL) will host Cheltenham on Monday.
