CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 12, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 7
The CB South Titans won their match-up Wednesday against Plymouth Whitemarsh, outscoring the Colonials 8-3 in the second half after battling their host to a 4-4 halftime tie.
The difference in the second half?
“The energy,” coach Mike Strayline said. “It’s so hard to get kids pumped up, but we talked at halftime. We knew we were in the game. We already had two games where we started out really slow and played really well towards the end of the game.
“In the second half, a few guys stepped up and got everybody going. Donte Poli and Austin Novick stepped up and had some good comments at halftime, and the guys listened. Our momentum in the second half was really good.”
Sophomore's Colin Abbonizio and Logan Swangler led the Titans with three goals and one assist each. Senior Dante Poli and junior Austin Novick each scored one goal and had three assists. Goals were also scored by senior Joe DeLaurentis, sophomore Tyler Horvath, and juniors Dylan Grosso and Jake Reilly. Freshman Christian Manibo and Horvath each scooped six ground balls, and Swangler had three. Seniors Connor Falkowski, Dylan Cramm, Matt Stoll and Evan Casey, along with sophomore Matt McDonald and junior Angus Ballantine, had two ground balls each.
Falkowski led the Titans with three forced turnovers, Novick had two, and Ballantine, seniors Evan Quinn and Joe Maag, and junior Dylan McCrory each had one forced turnover. Horvath went 10-18 at the X, and Stoll 1-3. Goalies Bobby Sautner (seven saves) and Colin Bernstein (two saves) combined for nine saves.
“We’re very young,” Strayline said. “We have a lot of sophomores that are contributing. I have a freshman starting on defense – Christian Manibo, and he played amazingly.”
Dylan Cramm gave the Titans a boost off the bench in the third quarter.
“Dylan Cramm got an opportunity to play on defense, and he played really well,” Strayline said. “We have an award now with the hard hat for the player that works the hardest, and he took the hard hat award today. He played in the second half and really played well.”

PENNSBURY 12, WISSAHICKON 11 (OT)
(Article submitted by Pennsbury lacrosse)
A little more than 20 minutes into its season opener Wednesday evening at Wissahickon, about the last thing that the Pennsbury girls lacrosse team figured to be doing at the end of the game was celebrating. And yet there were the Falcons when it finally ended, flying off the team bench together, all smiles, after digging their way out of an early hole for an unlikely, but highly satisfying, victory.
Pennsbury fell behind by six goals after 20 minutes and then shifted up a few gears, rallying to tie the game on a late Sarah Mac Davis free position goal and then winning it 12-11 in overtime on Lilly Nolan's third goal of the game, assisted by Emelie Curtis.
Annie Price led Pennsbury with five goals, and sophomore goalie Natalie Smith made 15 saves, nine in the first half, when the game really could have gotten away from the Falcons.
Pennsbury scored first, on a goal by Boston College field hockey commit Nell Webber, but the Trojans went on a big run, going up 7-1 after 20 minutes. Even after Price got one back, Wissahickon answered again, making it an 8-2 game.
The lead was still four for Wissahickon at 11-7 with 11:43 to play before Curtis sandwiched two free position goals around Price's fifth, making it 11-10 with 6:23 left.
Davis brought the Falcons all the way back with her own free position score with 2:54 to go in the second half, and neither team would score for the rest of regulation.
Wissahickon won the draw to start the overtime but turned it over. Pennsbury would clear, and then, after the teams traded turnovers near the Trojan goal (running the total number of turnovers between the teams for the night to 42), the F&M bound Nolan ended it when she curled around the goal, took a feed from Curtis and scored the winner.
Pennsbury (1-0) will host Villa Joseph Marie on Friday at 3:45 p.m., and Wissahickon (1-3) will be on the road at Central Bucks South on Monday for a 3:30 p.m. contest.

The Bucks roared out of the starting gate to a 5-1 halftime lead and never looked back.
“CB West was the better team tonight,” PW coach Ellen Reilly said. “They came out and took control from the draw. They dominated draw control.

Schmucker acknowledged it was hard to single out players in the team win and acknowledged some of the team’s unsung heroes.
