The Pine-Richland Rams traveled all the way from Allegheny County in Western Pennsylvania to take on the CB East Patriots on Friday afternoon. The Rams came to Patriot Stadium with a 7-0 record on the season and went toe to toe with the Patriots from the very start. Brant Billingsley and Ryan Stout each scored goals in the first period to give the Patriots a quick 2-0 lead. After a second period goal by Jacob Manion made it 3-0, the Rams got on the board at the 5:31 mark to reduce East’s lead to 3-1 at the half.
The teams battled for much of the third period until Ryan Bullotta scored at the 10:56 mark with an assist from Michael Ott. A short 90 seconds later, Bullotta scored again on a feed from Stout for a 5-1 lead. The Rams would add one goal in the third and one in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough as the Patriots’ Manion, Stout and Greg Scholz all scored in the fourth period on their way to a hard-fought 8-3 victory.
Stout led the scoring with two goals and two assists while Bullotta had two goals and one assist. Manion scored two goals, Scholz had one goal and one assist, and Michael Ott pitched in with two assists.

Lauren Van Buren scored four goals while Natalie McNamara and Kaley Ehnow both added two, and the Ghosts – after dropping their first three games of the season – were winners in their last two.
“We had a great team win today,” coach Mary Liz Klepper said. “We were focused right when we stepped off the bus and really came together as a team.
“We took care of the ball and had eight players contribute to our 13 goals. Out of our 13 goals, eight of them were assisted. Our defense played solid, and we were able to transition the ball. We were able to play our whole bench, so everyone felt like they contributed to today’s win”
Becca Gable, according to Klepper, has been a catalyst on defense.
“She has been our leader on defense,” the Ghosts’ coach said. “She marked number two, Bri O’Donnell, and really did a great job on her. She still had four goals, but we really came together as a solid ‘D’ today.
“Anna Joseph is another player on defense who really showed herself today. We’ve been really working on our defensive positioning this week because in recent games we’ve had a lot of calls against us, so we’ve really worked on our defensive positioning and really playing forearm instead of stick, and they really did a great job of hearing our feedback and doing that in the game today.”
The Ghosts, who led 6-4 at halftime, outscored their hosts in both halves.
“I feel like we finally had a good week of practice, and we worked on the fundamental stuff that we were noticing in the close games and even the games where we found ourselves in a big hole,” Klepper said. “We finally were able to come together. The girls are really pumped up about this win.”
Van Buren also had three draw controls and McNamara, six. Ehnow added two assists and four draw controls. Abby Thomas, Jamira Mashore and Taheera Rodgers and Lesha Karaba all had a goal and an assist. Maddie Hinkle had one goal, Kelly McCallister had a pair of assists, and chipping in one assist was Shea Gormley who also had a draw control.
For the Knights, Bri O’Donnell had four goals while Grace Sacchetti and Kristin Varilla both had two goals. Sacchetti added an assist and three draw controls. Kelly Macnamara contributed a goal and an assist.
“Grace Sacchetti’s hustle up and down the field is what kept us in the game,” North Penn coach Heather Mellow said. “We did not play our best lacrosse today.
“We had too many errors against a team that is fast and skilled.”
For the Ghosts, Claudia Grossi (five saves) and Ellie Hughes (four saves) split time in goal. North Penn’s Ashley Lambert turned away five shots.
