NESHAMINY 13, NAZARETH ACADEMY 8
Kelsey Goetz scored five goals and Katie Denis added four in stellar offensive outings, but it was the 15-save effort of goalie Stephanie Bennett that was the difference maker in the game.
“She continues to impress me,” coach Ashley Belmonte said. “This (year) is the first time she ever picked up a lacrosse stick, and she never was a goalie.
“We have a goalie coach working with her – she is so coachable.”
The sophomore goalie was recruited by one of Belmonte’s players. Bennett is a defensive midfielder in field hockey, and she’s brought her defensive instincts to the lacrosse field.
Also contributing to the Redskins’ attack was Mackenzie Foster with a hat trick. Caroline Angerer and Sophia Stewart both added a single goal.
The two teams were deadlocked 5-5 at halftime, and the Redskins took control of the game in the second half, outscoring their hosts 8-3.
Neshaminy (3-4, 0-2 SOL) will be on the road at Villa Joseph Marie on Thursday for a non-league contest.
