Dante Poli Sets New Standard for CB South Lacrosse
(Article submitted by Central Bucks South lacrosse)
Central Bucks South senior attackman Dante Poli reached a milestone in his high school career. Poli took over the school’s scoring record earlier this week against CB West in an overtime thriller that saw the Titans fall to the Bucks. Poli’s efforts didn’t go unnoticed – he had three goals and one assist, reaching 198 points for his career and surpassing the all-time leader in career points, Chris Mohapp (196 pts). The former CB South lacrosse great (2005-07) was a South assistant coach from 2012-2014.
Poli – who was sidelined with an injury as a freshman – is on pace to have 250 points in his career in just three seasons.
“Sophomore year he just took over,” coach Mike Strayline said. “He’s been our leading scorer for three years and a key piece to our success.
Poli is a very balanced player with goals and assists. He is a team captain and role model for the younger players.
“His energy, his hustle – he does everything all the time, and he never gives less than 100 percent,” Strayline said. “That’s the difference between Dante and the other players – he has a motor like I’ve never seen.
“He’s a special kid. He’s unreal. He’s a role model for all of our kids with how hard he plays and how hard he goes all the time.”
On Thursday at Kennett, Dante had four goals and three assists, and with that, he eclipsed the 200-point mark. The Titans won the game 10-2.
He currently has 114 goals and 91 assists, totaling 205 points. The Titans have eight regular season games remaining, seven of eight in the conference.
CB South is currently 6-3 overall and 1-1 in league play. The Titans take on CR South Friday at 3:30pm.
