SOL National Conference
PENNSBURY 12, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 1
Once again, the Pennsbury girls' lacrosse team has beaten a team it lost to a year ago. This time, the win was even more special, since it meant that Pennsbury had eclipsed its win total of all of last year and needed just seven games to do so.
Lily Nolan and Annie Price had five-point days – and neither took a second-half shot – to lead Pennsbury to a 12-1 win over Council Rock North Thursday afternoon. The game improved the Falcons to 5-2 on the season after a 4-13 season last year, and all five wins have come against teams who beat Pennsbury a year ago.
Nolan started the scoring less than a minute into the game on an assist from Brook Weaver, and it would be 10-0 Falcons by the half. Nolan would finish with four goals and an assist while Price had two goals and three assists, and all of their scoring came in the first half.
Emelie Curtis and Nell Weber also scored twice, while Weaver had a goal with two assists and Sarah Mac Davis had a goal and assist. Curtis also had an assist, and Natalie Smith made five save
Pennsbury (5-2, 2-1 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks South on Monday, and Council Rock North (0-4, 0-2) will host Central Bucks West on Monday.

Non-league
NESHAMINY 8, VILLA JOSEPH MARIE 7
When it comes to fantastic finishes, they don’t get much better than the ending to Thursday’s non-league contest pitting Neshaminy against coach Ashley Belmonte’s alma mater.
With a minute remaining in regulation, the Redskins saw their 7-6 lead disappear when the Jems found the net with the equalizer. Undeterred, Katie Denis won the ensuing draw and took on the goalie, winning that battle with 12 seconds remaining to score a goal that turned out to be the game winner. For Belmonte and the Redskins, this was their first win over the Jems, and it came in a game that saw the ‘Skins – who trailed 5-4 at halftime – limit the Jems to just two second-half goals.
“We controlled the second half,” Belmonte said. “The girls played with poise and moved the ball on offense.
“Our defense is really young and includes four sophomores. This is only their second year playing lacrosse. They are playing together and really stepping up considering they only have one season under their belts.”
Dennis had another huge game for the Redskins, finishing with six goals.
“Even when marked tightly, she is able to get in and find the back of the net,” Belmonte said.
Kelsey Goetz and Alexis Krippel added one goal each for the Redskins.
Stephanie Bennett once again came up big in goal with six key saves in a winning effort.
Neshaminy (4-4, 0-2 SOL) will travel to St. Hubert’s for a non-league contest on Friday.

ABINGTON 8, PENN CHARTER 7 (2 OT)
The Ghosts won a thriller when freshman Shae Gormley found the back of the net in sudden death overtime.
“Penn Charter was very aggressive, and we stayed composed,” coach Mary Liz Klepper said. “We had a lot of caused turnovers on defense but could not get the ground ball or transition it.
“If we limited our mistakes, it would have never gone into overtime, but it was another great TEAM win today, going 3-0 this week. I am happy to finally have a couple of days to regroup before the next game against Wissahickon.”
Lauren Van Buren’s hat trick led the Ghosts. Gormley, Abby Thomas, Kaley Ehnow, Natalie McNamara and Sam Simon each added one goal. Gormley, Ehnow and Kelly McCallister all contributed one assist.
Ellie Hughes recorded six saves in goal for the Ghosts.
Abington (5-4, 2-1 SOL) is off until next Wednesday when the Ghosts will host Wissahickon.
