HARRY S TRUMAN 13, BENSALEM 0 (5 innings)
The Tigers did all they could to improve their status in the District One 6A power rankings, but they remain the 22nd squad in what will be a 20-team district field. Still, there’s no mistaking the team’s remarkable improvement. Last year, they won just five games, three in conference play. This year, they closed out the regular season with a 10-9 record overall, 6-6 in SOL National Conference play, doubling their win total in both.
In Wednesday’s abbreviated contest, the Tigers showed off their offensive firepower. Chrissie Huhn led the way with a perfect 4-for-4 day at the plate out the leadoff spot. She stole a base, drove in a pair of runs and scored four runs. Kailea Heston was 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored. Adding one RBI each were Tori Baskin and Elle Olivero.
Hayley Carter earned the shutout win, allowing four hits while striking out one and walking one in the five-inning contest.
Bensalem (3-9 SOL) closed out its season with a 7-12 record.
