COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 1, HARRY S TRUMAN 0
Five minutes into Saturday morning’s contest, Zach Saifer scored on a head ball after a corner with an assist from Luke Walstrum. That goal stood the rest of the way for the Indians, who played the last 10 minutes down a man.
“It was a good, solid soccer game,” Truman coach Matt Terry said. “Both teams had some chances.
“Truman had some chances from corners and set pieces but was unable to capitalize. Truman’s defense was led Artie Dingley, Mert Yildirim, Adam Fask and Gaige Vargus who – along with backup keeper Edwin Rivera – were outstanding. We received solid midfield play and striker play by Edwin Teach, who provided punch up top. The Tigers played together, and they were unselfish today. I hope to build on the effort. I was proud of them."
Rock North keeper Andrew Daries recorded five saves in the shutout.
Council Rock North (4-2, 4-0 SOL) will travel to La Salle for a non-league contest Tuesday, and Harry S Truman (0-3, 0-4) will host Bensalem on Monday.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 1, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 0
The Hatters celebrated Community Night in style Saturday night, knocking off an undefeated Viking squad that last year advanced to the PIAA 5A semifinals. It was the first loss of the season for the PCL power.
“Obviously, they’re always a very good team in the Catholic League, and they’ve been undefeated to this point,” HH coach Kyle McGrath said. “It was a very good win.
“We had Community Night where we invite all the local clubs out to the game. We had a youth team from the Ukrainian Nationals Club play at halftime, and they walked the players out for the starting lineups.”
The Hatters scored the game’s only goal with 45 seconds remaining in the opening half off of a corner kick.
“The ball got played in, Ryan Cole initially got the first shot, and it got blocked by a defender, and Caleb Hudson was there to put the deflection into the goal,” McGrath said. “Obviously, it was a big momentum boost at the time going into halftime to get that goal.
“They pressured us right at the beginning of both halves, and my guys limited their opportunities in tight and forced them to shoot from a bit of a distance. We started to calm down a little bit about 15 minutes into each half and wrestled control away a little bit, knocked the ball around a little bit and played some possession.”
The big win came on the heels of a 2-1 win over Springfield Township 24 hours earlier.
“It was awesome,” McGrath said. “I’m proud of the guys’ effort after playing last night and having to come back tonight.
“To keep Archbishop Wood off the scoreboard, that’s good because they’ve been pouring in some goals – four, five, six, seven goals. To get a shutout was impressive.”
The Hatters’ coach once again lauded the efforts of his back four – outside backs Jake Weiss and Jason Czaplickiat and center backs Vince Bucafurri and Fran Moio.
“We’ve kind of jelled the last couple of games, and they’ve just played very well the last two nights,” McGrath said.
Hatboro-Horsham (3-3-1, 1-2-1 SOL) will be on the road at Cheltenham Monday.
“We struggled a little bit early on, but that goes with the territory of being a defending league champion, but to get back-to-back wins the way that we did and how we’ve played is good, and now we just have to keep that momentum going Monday at Cheltenham,” McGrath said.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 2, NESHAMINY 0
The Titans bounced back from Friday’s overtime loss to Pennridge – the team’s first of the season – to earn a non-league road win on Saturday.
The Redskins had a few opportunities early but could not find the goal. The Titans got on the scoreboard midway through the opening half on an own goal off a long throw.
“South had a long throw which gave us fits in the first half, and they were finally able to cash in on their opportunity,” Neshaminy coach Tom Foley said. “We did a better job in the second half in minimizing the throw-in they had.”
The Redskins created more pressure in the second half, including a breakaway.
“The CB South goalkeeper, Gavin Campbell, was up to the challenge,” Foley said. “We pushed forward in the last 10 minutes to get the equalizer, which allowed South more chances.”
One of those chances resulted in a corner in the 73rd minute.
“Christopher Griffin headed in a Corey Bethel service,” Foley said. “Our decision making was not what we would’ve liked today, and CB South outworked us in the critical parts of the game.
“Vince McGlynn had a standout game for Neshaminy with his high work rate and solid defending.”
Central Bucks South (4-1, 3-1 SOL) will host North Penn on Thursday, and Neshaminy (3-1, 3-2) will be on the road at William Tennent on Monday.

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 1, PENNCREST 1 (2OT)
Penncrest scored an early goal to go into halftime with a 1-0 lead. Andrew Srickland connected for the equalizer in the second half when the keeper mishandled the ball. When the ball deflected out, Strickland was there for the finish.
The tie was the third in six games for the Colonials.
“All three of our ties have come from the other team scoring in the first 15-20 minutes, we tie it and then we just can’t finish our chances,” coach Ryan Brazuk said. “It’s the way it goes, but they keep fighting.”
Plymouth Whitemarsh (1-2-3, 1-1-2 SOL) will travel to Upper Dublin on Monday.

HAVERFORD 3, SOUDERTON 2 (OT)
The Indians gave the Fords all they could handle, extending their visitors to overtime, but the Fords cashed in for the game winner in the 84th minute.
A goal by Andres Martinez in the 36th minute sent the Indians into halftime with a 1-0 lead. Haverford connected for goals in the 42nd and 45th minute to go on top 2-1, but the Indians rallied to knot the score when Rob Shea found the back of the net in the 64th minute. Brody Emery had the assist.
In goal for the Indians, Mitchell Race recorded seven saves.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, HATBORO-HORSHAM 0
The Bucks exploded for three first-half goals and never looked back, handing the Hatters their first loss of the season after five straight wins.
“We came out strong in the first half,” coach Mike Moyer said. “We had some early chances but just couldn’t find the back of the net.
“We finally got on the board on a great counter attack. Taylor Moyer made a great pass to Trish Hauck who took care of the rest and buried her first goal of the season.”
Six minutes later, the Bucks struck again.
“Ryan Fitzsimmons had a great individual effort in the corner and sent a laser into the box that Taylor (Moyer) hit a one-time volley for her first career goal," Moyer said.
The Bucks weren’t finished yet. This time it was Ryan Fitzsimmons connecting for a goal that sent the Bucks into halftime with a commanding 3-0 lead.
“The second half we were able to get everyone playing time to give our starters a much-needed rest,” Moyer said. “We had great minutes by Shelby Hahn, Erika Evan, and Allie Evan in the back.
“I also thought we had great midfield play from Tori Albrecht, Erin Fitzsimmons and Maya Smith.”
With the win, the Bucks – who have played a tough early-season schedule – moved up to the top spot in the latest District One 4A rankings. Hatboro-Horsham is sixth.
Central Bucks West (5-2, 1-2 SOL) will travel to North Penn for a 3:45 contest Monday, and Hatboro-Horsham (5-1, 4-0) will host Cheltenham on Monday at 7 p.m.

PENNSBURY 2, DOWNINGTOWN WEST 0
The Falcons scored a pair of goals in a five-minute span in the first half to earn their sixth win in as many games.
“It took a few minutes to knock off some of the fatigue from yesterday, but we benefitted from a ‘timeout’ in the game while the refs worked through a few issues,” coach Kaitlyn Battiste said.
Christine Cataldo-Smith continued her torrid offensive production, scoring in the 31st minute with an assist from Gabby Zalot. Five minutes later Cataldo-Smith found Evie Ciaccia for an insurance goal.
“West had some good pressure on the ball, but Gabby Zalot played a beautiful ball in to Christine who turned and fired a bullet past the keeper,” Battiste said. “Shortly after that Christine drew the defense away from the goal and was able to find Evie for a one-time finish.”
The Falcons are third in the latest District One 4A rankings.
Pennsbury (6-0, 3-0 SOL) will travel to Council Rock South for a key conference battle Monday.
