North Penn rolled to a 69-35 win over neighboring Lansdale Catholic in a non-league contest Thursday.
NORTH PENN 69, LANSDALE CATHOLIC 35
It was supposed to be a spirited battle between the neighboring rivals. Instead, it was a North Penn rout with the outcome decided well before halftime. The Knights led 18-9 after one quarter and took a 36-18 lead into the intermission.
“I was really pleased with the way that we came to play, particularly in the first half,” NP coach Jen Carangi said. “We had a lot of intensity, especially defensively which at times has been a struggle for us. We have lapses, so I was happy with us being able to do that.”
Playing no small role in the Knights’ fast start was Alli Lindsay, who scored 11 of her game-high 15 points in the first quarter. In the opening quarter, she connected on four field goals, including a three, and also was 2-for-2 at the foul line.
“Alli played great,” Carangi said. “She’s our floor general. She makes everything go. We’ve been working with her the last couple of weeks when to and when not to, and I thought tonight was a perfect example of – she was advancing the ball and taking chances when she had it, but she wasn’t forcing things and creating turnovers.”
The game afforded Carangi the opportunity to go deep on her bench with all 12 players seeing action and 11 putting their names in the scoring column.
Also for the Knights, Carley Adams added 11 points – eight in the second quarter, and Val McGriff had 10. Kate Early finished with eight points – seven in the first half, and Rachel Dunn had six.
For the Crusaders, Timaya Lewis-Eutsey scored 12 points in the first half but did not play in the second half.
North Penn (6-2, 1-1 SOL) will travel to Quakertown on Friday.
