BENSALEM 70, HARRY S TRUMAN 37
(Check back for a follow-up story about Haley Keenan reaching a personal milestone.)
Haley Keenan had herself a night to remember.
The Bensalem senior connected on a pair of foul shots with two minutes remaining in the third quarter for her 20th and 21st points of the night. The second vaulted her to the coveted 1,000-point plateau, highlighting the Owls no-doubt-about-it win.
“Haley is a super kid,” coach Sheldon Per said. “Scoring a thousand points – the monkey’s off her back. She hit her first shot – she hit a three, and I knew tonight would be the night.”
Keenan led all scorers with 26 points in a glittering offensive performance. Chloe Munyon added nine while Pooja Singameni and Emily Wineburg both added eight. Mia Park and Averi McCoy each had six points.
For the Tigers, Daisha Campbell – who surpassed the 1,000-point mark Friday – led the way with 15 points. Nai Nai Keys had 10 points, and Dahlia Gumaa added eight.

SOUDERTON 58, PENNRIDGE 51 (2 OT)
It was a game the Indians could have lost. Instead, the young squad found a way to win, surviving two overtimes to beat the Rams in a classic battle.
“It’s a great win – it’s our biggest win of the season so far,” Souderton coach Lynn Carroll said. “It’s a little early to be talking about district playoffs, but it’s our best win so far.
“There were certainly moments we would like to have back to make it a little bit easier for ourselves, but I just think it’s so great for the girls to find a way to win a game like this against a veteran team that’s playing well. I feel like every night is a learning experience for our team, and we’re going to take so much from this – the good and the bad but certainly the good.”
The Indians, who trailed 10-6 after one quarter, took a 20-16 lead into halftime but then watched the Rams score 21 points in the third quarter to take a 37-30 lead into the final quarter.
“They opened the third quarter on a 7-0 run,” Carroll said. “At halftime, what we talked about was – we were in the same spot with North Penn, we were in the same spot with CB East, and we lost both of those games. We were up at half – it’s time to show that we’re ready to take that next step, and then Pennridge scored 21 points in the third quarter.”
That would have been reason enough for the visiting Indians to fold their tents, but they didn’t, limiting the Rams to just six points in the fourth quarter on a pair of threes by Julia Kreider and Evelyn Loughery while they scored 13. Freshman Casey Harter led the way with five points, including a three. Mikaela Reese was 3-for-4 at the foul line, and freshman Erin Bohmueller added three points.
“I think Mike (Elton) would agree – both teams made some big mistakes at the end of regulation and the first overtime, but we really showed a lot of resiliency,” Carroll said. “We had two freshmen, two juniors and a senior on the court for most of the fourth quarter and both overtimes.
“We would make a mistake but then go down and make a stop, or they would hit a big shot, and we would come down and hit a big shot. It was back and forth for most of the game except for the third quarter when they jumped out early and built on that lead.”
Both teams scored six points in the first overtime. The Indians seized control in the second, scoring nine. Harter led the way with five on a three-pointer and a 2-for-2 effort at the foul line. Both Olivia Schneider and Reese also were 2-for-2 at the charity stripe.
Schneider, whose nine first-half points led the Indians, scored a team-high 17 points.
“Olivia played great again,” Carroll said. “She’s just so smart when she doesn’t have the ball in her hands. She moves so well. The way she cuts to the basket – she just has a sense – I think probably better than any player I’ve ever coached – of how to get to open space and then create a spot for herself.”
Harter had 16 points – all in the second half and two overtimes.
“Casey Harter had a coming out game,” Carroll said. “She just played great. She hit a couple of threes, she was 6-for-6 at the foul line, 4-for-4 in the two overtimes. I think before tonight she was shooting in the 30s from the foul line for the season.
“She looked nothing like a freshman and just played determined. She played Corinn Mart the entire game and played great defense on her. She’s been doing so much for the team this whole season. Tonight she added to what she’s already done in the scoring column. That was just really, really big.”
Reese put up another double-double for the Indians, finishing with 13 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. She was 8-for-10 at the foul line, 4-for-4 in the two overtimes.
“This is a position we’ve been in a couple of times already, so it felt familiar,” Carroll said. “We found a way to get it done. It wasn’t always pretty – Mike (Elton) would agree, but I think this is big for us moving forward.
Souderton (7-4, 2-3 SOL) is off until Monday when the Indians will host Perkiomen Valley in a non-league game at 8 p.m. Pennridge (7-5, 2-2) will travel to Central Bucks East on Friday.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 57, NORTH PENN 45
A determined Knight squad pulled to within three in the third quarter only to watch the visiting Bucks go up by 10 heading into the final frame. Again, the Knights rallied, pulling to within 41-37, but the Bucks buried foul shots down the stretch when it mattered most to earn the hard fought win.
“North Penn is such a well-coached team,” CB West coach Zach Sibel said. “They’re a really tough team, every girl that gets on the floor for them (is tough), and they make it a real dogfight.
“It was good to see our girls respond from a tough game on Sunday (an overtime loss to National Christian Academy, Md.) and really step up.”
Coming up big for the Bucks was Emily Spratt. The sophomore guard not only scored a game-high 17 but also pulled down 12 rebounds. She was money from the foul line, connecting on 5-of-5 in the fourth quarter and 9-of-10 for the game.
“It’s always good to see her step up, and honestly, she’s been doing it all year,” Sibel said. “It’s cool to see her complement Maddie (Burke). It’s made us a better team.”
Burke finished with 14 points, including three three-pointers, and Olivia Irons added 11.
“Lilly Evans really stepped in and played great basketball,” Sibel said. “She’s coming off two big games – played really well off the bench.
“Liv Irons continued to make plays and get people involved, and Maddie Burke is doing what Maddie Burke does, being aggressive on the glass, getting girls involved in transition and having 14 (points) of her own.”
The Bucks – behind five points from Burke and four from Paige Gilbert – led 13-5 after one quarter. The Knights remained within striking distance and trailed by just a 24-17 score at halftime. Val McGriff’s eight points led the Knights.
In the third quarter, the Bucks – sparked by six points from Burke – edged the Knights 13-10 to go into the final quarter with a 37-27 lead.
The Knights didn’t go down quietly. Alli Lindsay scored seven points in the quarter and Kate Early had five to keep the Knights close. But Spratt had seven points in the quarter and Irons had six – including a 4-for-4 effort at the line. Burke buried a big three, and the Bucks had their fourth win without a loss in conference play.
For the Knights, Alaina Mullaly led a balanced attack with 11 points, and Lindsay had 10. The duo combined for 19 second-half points to keep the Knights in it. McGriff finished with eight points and Early had seven.

Worley and Bowser are both freshmen and Whiting – the veteran floor general of the young squad – is only a sophomore.
The Ghosts needed their offensive heroics in a game that saw a feisty Trojan squad – sparked by seven points from senior Anna Schools – take a 20-18 lead into halftime.

“We were missing a couple of key players and just could not find our offense,” Cheltenham coach Ben Bowman said.
