Shipley spent the night taking trips to the foul line – 40 all told, and the Gators made the most of those opportunities, converting 37 of 40. Through three quarters, the Gators – who entered the game shooting 86 percent from the foul line – were almost perfect at the charity stripe, connecting on 22 of 23 shots. They were 15-of-17 in the fourth quarter.
The two teams combined for 61 foul shots in the marathon contest that was the nightcap of the Kobe Bryant Classic at Lower Merion High School. The Ghosts were 13-of-21 at the line.
Abington hung tough, trailing by just two after one quarter and six at the half. It was still a six-point game heading into the fourth quarter when the Gators outscored the Ghosts 24-20.
Caleb Baker, who was named team MVP, led the Ghosts with 21 points – 17 in the second half. He also had eight rebounds. Joey Brusha added 11 points, which included three 3-pointers. Manir Waller contributed nine points, six rebounds, four assists and one block, and Rob Bell had eight points and four assists. Sophomore Connor Fields had a pair of blocks and drew a charge.
The Ghosts shot 43.3 percent from the floor (23-for-53) and 30.7 percent from beyond the arc (4-for-13).
Abington (7-9, 6-3 SOL) will host Upper Dublin on Friday at 6:30 p.m.

The Hatters opened up an 18-4 lead and never looked back on their way to the non-league win.
Alice Hall and Graceanne Griffis led a balanced Hatter attack with 13 points each. Sydney Kemp added six points
Kayla Horning led the Panthers with eight points, which included a pair of 3s, and Katie Catalano added six points.
Hatboro-Horsham (9-8, 5-4 SOL) will host Upper Moreland on Friday, and Quakertown (3-12, 0-8) will host Norristown in a non-league game Friday.
