Non-league
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 53, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 42
The Titans found their offensive stride early in Saturday’s non-league game, opening up a 20-10 lead after one quarter and extending that to 37-19 by halftime. The Golden Hawks staged a late rally, but the Titans – less than 24 hours removed from a tightly contested loss to Souderton – would not be denied.
“They have nine wins, and they have some nice players who can score,” CB South coach Beth Mattern said of the Golden Hawks. “I think this (win) was huge.
“Last night we definitely played our best game, and today probably has to trump that since we ended up with a ‘W.’ I just saw some changes in the way we’re attacking offensively and defensively. Hopefully, we can continue.”
In the Titans’ 20-point first quarter, Mackenzie Erb scored seven points.
“Mac Erb had five points right out of the gate – she knocked down a three and had a putback layup, and that was a great kick start,” Mattern said. “It was in the first minute of the game, but I think that kind of got everyone moving in the right direction.
“We played pretty solid defense in the first half, and that allowed good things to happen on the court.”
Alyssa D’Orazaio had five points in the Titans’ 17-point second quarter that saw seven different players contribute points. Nicole Blaustein kept the Golden Hawks in the game, scoring nine points in the opening half.
Both teams scored nine points in the third quarter. The Golden Hawks outscored the Titans 14-7 in the final quarter, but it wasn’t enough.
“They did a nice job and put pressure on us,” Mattern said. “They were trying to claw their way back in and cut the lead to seven at one point.
“The last minute they had to foul, and we were 4-for-4 from the foul line – Alyssa D’Orazio went 2-for-2 and Mac Erb went 2-for-2, and we ended up with an 11-point win.”
Erb led a balanced Titan attack with 13 points. D’Orazio added nine, Caroline McSorley, eight, and Madelyn Tantum had seven points.
Mattern was pleased with her team’s 15-for-19 effort at the foul line.
“Maddie White was 5-for-5 at the line, Alyssa D’Orazio was 6-for-6 at the line,” the Titans’ coach said. “I just thought at moments when we needed big baskets or stops, we were able to do that tonight while battling foul trouble.
“People were in and out of the lineup. Taylor Hinkle was in foul trouble the whole game and did not get many minutes. Maddie Tantum pulled down some big boards. We’re moving in the right direction.”
For the Golden Hawks, Blaustein led the way with 19 points, connecting on 7-of-10 shots from the field in an impressive offensive outing. Karissa Smedley and Hannah Binder both added seven points.
Central Bucks South (6-11, 2-7 SOL) will travel to Pennridge on Tuesday, and Council Rock South (9-8, 5-3) will travel to Bensalem on Tuesday.

WILLIAM TENNENT 43, BISHOP McDEVITT 21
The Panthers picked up their second win in less than 24 hours, following Friday’s big win over Council Rock North with a no-doubt-about-it non-league win over the Lancers.
The game was close for one quarter, but the visiting Panthers outscored the Lancers 28-9 over the next three.
“As a coach, there’s always some concern after a big emotional win that you’re going to have a letdown next game,” Tennent coach Laura Whitney said. “Especially when it’s less than 24 hours later. We told the girls before the game that the great win from yesterday doesn’t mean as much if you can’t back it up today.
“I think to an extent it did affect us early. We didn’t come out with quite the same energy and weren’t as sharp offensively or defensively. We were settling for too many outside shots, and when they weren’t dropping, we started getting frustrated. Defensively, we seemed a step behind and had some miscommunications, which left girls open. To their credit, they knocked them down.”
The Panthers – sparked by six points from Erin Hart – led 15-12 after one quarter but outscored the Lancers 10-2 in the second quarter to go into halftime with a 25-14 lead. Hart led the Panthers with 10 points.
The second half belonged to the Panthers’ defense, which limited the Lancers to just two field goals and seven points.
“The second half we picked up our defensive pressure,” Whitney said. “Offensively, we started to move the ball better and got some wide open looks. It was a great way to end a great week.”
Hannah Reimel led the Panthers in the second half with 10 points – including a pair of 3s. Reimel and Hart led the Panthers with 14 points each. Courtney Bragen had seven, and Kirsten Scott finished with six points.
William Tennent (6-10, 2-6 SOL) will travel to Pennsbury on Tuesday.

PENNRIDGE 66, POTTSGROVE 49
Looking to bounce back from a rough loss to CB West on Friday night, the Rams took another hit in the first quarter.
Senior Corinn Mart went down with an ankle injury and with another starter in Sophie Cweiber already sidelined, the Rams had to turn to their bench. Their depth played a pivotal role, few larger than freshman Katie Yoder’s impact in the final quarter.
“It was pretty tight there and we really had some players step up today,” Rams coach Mike Elton said. “Katie Yoder came in and did a great job in some significant minutes. Ryan Hodder, a sophomore, stepped up a lot. Kiersten Moyer, a junior and Jill Coughlin, a senior, had big minutes too.”
The Rams took a 28-22 lead into halftime, and despite a 20-point third quarter from Pennridge, the visiting Falcons cut the lead to seven points on Sierra Potts’ three with 3:25 left in the game. Yoder, who had four personal fouls and spent most of the game limited by foul trouble, helped turn things around.
The freshman scored all seven of her points in the final quarter and – with a score, a free throw and an assist on an Ashley Gordon basket – helped the Rams build a 60-47 lead to restore order.
“She struggled with fouls, but she’s a freshman,” Elton said of Yoder. “It’s encouraging, she’s starting to get a feel for it now.”
Evelyn Loughery led the Rams with 17 points. They also got 16 from Julia Kreider and 12 from Ashley Gordon. Gordon and Loughery both scored four in the final quarter and each hit a pair of free throws in the frame.
“Free throws saved us – we were 10-of-12 at the line,” Elton said. “They were making a charge. They threw a zone at us and we struggled to close again. We had a big second half but generally a pretty solid game.”

CONESTOGA 47, CHELTENHAM 32
The Lady Panthers fell behind early and weren’t able to catch up in Saturday’s setback.
“I give Conestoga a lot of credit – they came in and took control right away,” Panthers coach Ben Bowman said. “All the confidence and chemistry we gained from last week’s win (over Upper Moreland) is gone. We need to find it to finish the season strong.”
The Pioneers, who led 14-6 after one quarter, took a 26-14 lead into halftime. The Lady Panthers never threatened.
Umayrah Sulaymon paced the Panthers with a 15-point effort, and Assata Robinson added nine.
