Sophomore Sammy Lewis turned a Dylan Kavanaugh pass into the game-winner 30 seconds into overtime, allowing the short-handed Indians to escape with a win.
The dramatic ending seemed unlikely, at best, with the Rams trailing 3-0 at halftime and still down by three (5-2) with four minutes remaining, but they came storming back, knotting the score with 40 seconds remaining in regulation.
With six seconds remaining, the Rams were assessed a penalty, and the Indians were a man up to open the overtime.
“It was a tight, defensive game,” coach John Fitzpatrick said. “Our defense was outstanding.”
Cole Newman certainly did his part, turning away 11 shots in a standout effort in goal for the Indians. Nico Whalen and Max Harar both had two caused turnovers.
“Sean Beverly shut down their best player, #5 (Chris Fanelli),” Fitzpatrick said. “No one has worked harder than Zane Moore with face-offs. He stepped up and was 6-for-8.”
Lewis led the Indians with four goals and four ground balls. Dean Scalamandre added two goals and an assist, and Andrew Zazoff had an assist. Scalamandre also had three ground balls, and Zazoff had a pair. Kavanaugh had five ground balls, and Harar added three while Beverly had two.
For the Rams, Jake Stranix had two goals while Fanelli, Drew Ferguson and Ryan Carickhoff each had one.
Kieran Banks was outstanding in goal for the Rams, turning away 19 shots.

The Falcons capped an excellent week with a solid all-around effort on Friday, notching their third win in as many games.
“When you look at the season, you look at what you have and you design what you want to do around your team, and you think you got it right,” Pennsbury coach Dean Curtis said. “What’s great is we’re starting to see the things that we planned starting to pay off. The kids are buying in. It’s not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but it’s working.
“You look in the huddle, and you look – as a coach – at the eyes of your players, and you start to really see who’s bought in and who’s not, and tonight I saw a lot of locked in players. It was great.”
Friday’s win followed a busy week for Pennsbury that saw the Falcons come up victorious in a come-from-behind overtime thriller with Council Rock North and eke out a one-goal win over the Pennington School. That’s nothing though, compared to what Reece Millman and Shane Siegmund did.
Millman, who tallied a hat trick Friday, and Siegmund, who had an assist, also played two Flyers Cup games on top of three lacrosse games.
“Kudos to Shane and Reece for really putting it all out there the past few days. They’ve done a great job,” Curtis said. “When you think about what they’ve done this week – they had Council Rock North on Tuesday. They then went that night and won the first round game of the Flyers Cup, then they came back and played against Pennington, then last night they played in the Pennridge Flyers Cup game, and they played tonight. It’s really incredible.”
Pennsbury took control of the game in the middle quarters, outscoring the Bucks 7-3 in the second and third frames.
Ryan DeZutal led the Falcons offensively with a five-goal effort that earned plaudits from his coach.
“I don’t know if it’s a career game for Ryan DeZutal – I don’t have the numbers, but he did really well at the face-off X,” Curtis said. “He was strong on the face-off. Most importantly, he was really smart with his approach.
“Five goals is great, but how he dodged and when he dodged and when he chose to go to the goal was really smart, and he took advantage of opportunities that he had.”
Jack Kalinowski had two goals and an assist, Avery Dystart scored one and assisted another and Michael DeZutel scored a goal. Kolby Rannielo had two helpers for the Falcons.
Nico Cione posted 14 saves for a Falcons defense that held the Bucks to two or less goals in each of the first three quarters.
“Will Cusack, Matt Harkins and Nico (Cione) in goal – they really solidified our defense tonight,” Curtis said.
Brayden Albrecht, Jeff Woosnam and Austin Hahn each scored two goals for CB West. Freshman Matt Jacobsen, who went 12 for 18 on face-offs, contributed a goal. Bucks goalie Evan Hee tallied 12 saves.
Pennsbury (4-1, 2-0 SOL) will host Central Bucks South on Tuesday, and Central Bucks West (2-3, 1-1) will be on the road at Pennridge on Tuesday.

It hasn’t been the easiest of starts for the Titans this season, but they’ve continued to fight through and were rewarded with a strong second half on Friday.
The Titans took a tenuous 4-3 lead into halftime and then outscored the Indians 7-2 in the second half.
“We have had a rough start because we had tryouts and then one scrimmage, then got shut down for 10 days because of COVID,” South coach Mike Strayline said. “We played a game and had Easter break now we are playing and starting to gel as a team. Tonight’s win was a great starting point, and hopefully, we continue on Tuesday against another tough team.”
Cole Cenci led South with three goals as part of a multi-faceted attack. Logan Dunn, Liam Brittin and Nick Fareno each had two goals and an assist while Evan Jacobsen scored one and helped out on two others.
Reese Levinson had a pair of assists and one ground ball while Christian Manibo and David Humphreys both had two forced turnovers and one ground ball.
Chris Moore did it all, scoring a goal, assisting another and going 12-of-16 on face-offs while collecting eight ground balls.
Gavin Ostroff made 12 saves behind a defense that didn’t allow more than two goals in any quarter.
Jamison McDivitt led Souderton with two goals and two assists. John Martin Vince and Ty Quintois each tallied a goal and one assist while Kobi Bui added a goal.
“It was hard fought game in the first half, ending 4-3,” Souderton coach Mark Cornes said. “In the second half, the tide turned with penalties for Souderton, and it was 8-4 at the end of the third.”
Central Bucks South (2-1, 2-0 SOL) will travel to Pennsbury on Tuesday, and Souderton (3-2, 1-2) will travel to Coatesville for a non-league game Monday.

The Knights posted did not allow a goal in the first quarter and maintained their lead throughout on Friday.
North Penn led 3-0 after 12 minutes, the team’s second shutout first quarter this week following Tuesday’s win over Neshaminy.
“We are learning to play as a team and work together in our system,” NP coach Rich Smith said. “Council Rock South battled the entire game and we had to fight until the very end for this victory.”
Connor Toussaint chalked up a hat trick for North Penn. Dakari Luby scored two goals and assisted on another while Lars Homan added one goal and two assists. Ryan McCann and Declan Lainer each contributed a single goal.
“Connor Toussaint led our offense, but I feel that our man down defense made the difference today,” Smith said. “We had several mental breakdowns that caused us to be man down, and our man down unit played a vital role in the outcome of the game today.”
Matt Kuhn posted 13 saves in goal for the Knights.
CR South closed within 5-3 after three quarters, but the Knights won the final frame 3-1 to secure the victory.
North Penn (4-1, 2-0 SOL) will host Council Rock North on Tuesday, and Council Rock South (0-3, 0-2) will host Upper Moreland in a non-league game Monday at 5 p.m.

The Colonials needed plenty of contributors to pull out a Senior Night win over a tough Spartans team.
“First, I’d like to give credit to Springfield and their coaching staff,” PW coach Whit Bruemmer said. “Hank Resch is an excellent coach and surely gets the most out of his team.”
Henry Hanlon, a senior and captain for PW, was a standout performer.
“He’s able to play multiple positions and we needed that tonight,” Bruemmer said.
The Colonials built a 7-4 lead at the half, which was good enough as the teams played to a draw after intermission.
Jake Shaifer tallied five goals and two assists to lead the PW offense. CJ Petrakis netted four goals and an assist while Luke Wendler had two scores and set up five others.
PW goalie Nick Devitis, also a senior, was a defensive standout making double-digit saves in goal.
Alex Vecchione’s four-goal effort led the Spartans, who also received two goals each from Luke Gozzard and Jaxon Weiss. Cameron Dennis had one goal.

Twenty-four hours after pulling out an emotional 10-8 win over Neshaminy, the Lions were back on the field to take on a Panther squad that is going through some growing pains.
“I know the struggle Tennent is going through when you don’t have a CBAA or a Warrington where you can get players,” NHS coach Jeff Bruemmer said.
Kyle McLaughlin had nine goals and two assists to lead the Lions in Friday’s win.
One night earlier, with the score deadlocked 8-8, McLaughlin scored the go-ahead goal and later added an insurance goal.
Bruemmer noted the significance of the Newshaminy win.
“We’re new in the Suburban One this year, so we’re not playing a patty cake schedule,” the Lions’ coach said. “Any victory against anyone in the Suburban One is good for us because we’re the little guys.
“We’re not very deep, but we have a great core of players. We were missing some players and got whipped by (Council) Rock North in our first game. The Neshaminy game really kind of defined us. It was my first win with the team. We’re a little short on numbers, but the enthusiasm of the parents and the players – there’s no shortage of that.”
In the Neshaminy win, Tanner Richmond anchored the defense with 13 saves in goal for the Lions.
“He was terrific for us in goal, Bruemmer said. “Ryan Riggione won 70 percent of the face-offs, and Brian Dougherty led the defense with six ground balls.
“(Neshaminy coach) John Donato came over to me and said, ‘This was a great game.’ It was a shame anybody had to be on the losing side. Both teams, everybody out there was positive. The players were respectful.
“It went back and forth. It was one of the most exciting games I’ve been part of. The boys pulled together. It was the true essence of a team. I was really proud of them. They worked hard. I pushed guys out there that had gone to the limit and were willing and able to go a little bit more. It’s kind of an amazing program that we can be competitive.”
