Conestoga 5, Wissahickon 4
Saturday’s non-league game at Wissahickon was about a whole lot more than lacrosse. The Jim Simmington Memorial Game included a pregame ceremony honoring the memory of the longtime Wissahickon middle school teacher who also was an assistant Wissahickon
lacrosse coach from 2007-2012. Simmington lost his courageous battle with cancer on Dec. 1, 2019. The former Wissahickon coach had close ties to both the Wissahickon and Conestoga communities, and prior to the game, the two teams presented team jerseys to Simmington’s two children.
In the game that followed, the Trojans gave the visiting Pioneers all they could handle and then some, opening up a 3-0 halftime lead before their visitors battled back in the second half and eked out the win.
For the Trojans, Kyle Lehman connected for a hat trick, and Jackson Intrieri had one goal. Brody Myers had one assist. Matt Fritz won 6 of 13 face-offs.
Scott Pfeiffer was credited with nine saves in goal, and coach Matt Conway lauded the outstanding play of defensemen Jake Licata, Quinn Fonash, Ethan Glass, Joey Connolly and Max Gendelman.
Wissahickon (4-3, 2-0 SOL) will travel to Springfield Township on Tuesday.

Council Rock North 12, Holy Ghost Prep 3
Senior defensemen Sean Beverly, Max Harar, Nico Whalen and Charlie Puccio as well as senior goalie Cole Newman dominated Saturday’s game defensively. Also playing a key role in the win was Zane Moore, who controlled play at the face-off X, winning 15 of 20 face-offs. He also had eight ground balls.
Luke Walstrum made his presence felt, scoring three goals and assisting on three others. He also had four ground balls. Adding two goals each were Andrew Zazoff, Dylan Kavanaugh, Sammy Lewis and Shane Bradley while Dean Scalamandre had one goal. Bradley also had one assist and two ground balls. Lewis had four ground balls, and Nate Rambo had three. Bradley and Puccio both had two ground balls while Beverly, Harrar, Whalen, Kavanaugh and Scalamandre had one each.
Penncrest 13, Central Bucks West 6
Penncrest brought a 6-0 record and the top spot in the District One 2A rankings to West on Saturday, and the Lions looked every bit as good as their record, opening up an 11-0 halftime lead on their way to the non-league win.
Jeff Woosnam connected on a hat trick to lead the Bucks while Brayden Albrecht, Sean Kelly and Evan Goldrick each added one goal. Matt Jacobsen had an assist and also was a force at the face-off X, winning 8 of 12 face-offs. Cole Gunutti won 6 of 9 face-offs.
West goalie Evan Hee was credited with 14 saves.
Central Bucks West (4-4, 3-1 SOL) will travel to Council Rock North on Tuesday.

SOL National Conference
Central Bucks South 12, Neshaminy 4
The Titans raced out of the gate on their way to a 7-0 halftime lead and never looked back, earning their fourth conference win in five games.
Logan Dunn (four goals, two assists) and Cole Cenci (three goals, two assists) led a balanced Titan attack. Liam Brittin added a pair of goals while Nick Farena added a goal and an assist. John Fitts and Chris Moore both had one goal while Evan Jacobsen had a pair of assists and Reese Levinson had one assist.
Moore also had a big day at the faceoff X, winning 12 of 18 faceoffs. He also had eight ground balls.
Christian Manibo (one caused turnover, two ground balls), Seth Gibson (two caused turnovers, one ground ball) and Owen McCrory (two ground balls) also made important contributions.
For the Redskins, Ayden Demi scored two goals and assisted on another. Ethan Roney and Ethan Roscoe each added a goal while Liam Ames and Lucas Maher both chipped in an assist.
“Our team defense stayed tough through all four quarters,” Neshaminy coach John Donato said. “Close defender Timmy Ansel was solid in all facets of the game across the defensive half.”
Gavin Ostroff was credited with five saves in goal for the Titans.
Central Bucks South (4-2, 4-1 SOL) will travel to West Chester Rustin for a non-league game Monday, and Neshaminy (2-8, 1-6) will be on the road at Holy Ghost Prep for a non-league game Monday.

Upper Dublin 11, Upper Moreland 5
Brett Rama scored three goals and added two assists to lead a balanced attack in the Flying Cardinals win over the Golden Bears.
Will Bailey and Vijay Foster each had two goals. Foster also had an assist. Andrew Sowers added a goal and two assists, and adding one goal each were Stevie Pileggi, Kyle Spirt and Jake Rossman.
Upper Dublin (4-3, 2-0 SOL) will host New Hope-Solebury on Monday, and Upper Moreland (4-2, 1-1) will host Father Judge in a non-league game on Monday.
Wissahickon 20, William Tennent 1
Jackson Intrieri spent Friday’s non-league game setting up his teammates, leading the Trojans with nine assists. Dean Wolfe, Nicholas Donofrio, Brody Myers, Gavin Myers, Jimmy Mallot and Jason Michaels each added multiple goals. Contributing single goals were EJ Schreiner, Sam Baker, Dominic Kemper, Alex Solomon, Andrew Slackman, Dylan Lynagh, Matthew Slovin, Charlie Stehlik and Kyle Doll.

Council Rock North 13, Springfield Township 6
Seven players contributed goals in Friday’s non-league win over the Spartans. Dean Scalamandre led the Indians with four goals and two assists. He also had three ground balls. Luke Walstrum added four goals and two assists. He had two ground balls.
Contributing one goal each were Nate Rambo (one assist) Shane Bradley (two assists), Andrew Zazoff, Dylan Kavanaugh (one assist) and Sammy Lewis (one assist). Kavanaugh also had four ground balls, Bradley had three and Max Harar had two.
Nico Whalen had four caused turnovers and five ground balls. Zane Moore had six ground balls.
Cole Newman was credited with nine saves in goal in the winning effort.
Girls
Non-league
Pennsbury 16, West Chester East 5
Darrien Furiness, Maddy Spratt and Maggie Golder were a triple threat for the Falcons in Saturday’s non-league game. Furiness was all but unstoppable on attack, scoring seven goals. She also had six draw controls, five ground balls and one caused turnover. Spratt and Golder each had three goals and two assists. Spratt had seven draw controls, seven ground balls and one caused turnover. Golder had three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
“Maggie Golder takes the draw really well for us,” Pennsbury coach Shannon MacPherson said. “And having Maddy and Darrien on the circle has been so beneficial for us. We have a lot of trust in those three, and they work so well with each other.”
Adding one goal and one assist were Sarah Walcott and Olivia Walcott. Sophia Curtis added a goal and also had a team high three caused turnovers as well as one ground ball.
“Sophia Curtis had a great game for us today,” MacPherson. “We had to make some adjustments on attack and she really stepped up – caused turnovers and did well on the re-defend.
“The midfield did a nice job on the draw again today which is huge in our success. Overall today was a team effort and every player contributed and worked well with each other.”
Pennsbury (4-1, 1-1 SOL) will travel to Pennridge on Monday for a 7 p.m. game.

Upper Moreland 17, Landale Catholic 8
Isabel Leiter and Reagan Cummins scored four goals each to lead a potent UM attack. Leiter also had an assist.
The visiting Golden Bears opened up an 11-5 halftime lead, and the Crusaders never threatened.
“This was a great game for our team today,” UM coach Kim Frantz said. “Skills and concepts we have been working on regularly in practice came together and showed in the game today.”
Also for UM, Willow Taylor had a hat trick while Olivia Meakim, Charlotte James, Heidi Whittick, Sophia Hopf, Meredith Marstellar and Allison LaRocco had one each. Meakim and Marstellar each also had three assists.
Taylor led the Golden Bears with four draw controls while Bre Knox and Wittick both had three. Marsteller had a pair.
“The girls are starting to really come together as a team,” Frantz said. “Maddy Trzaska came up big defensively for us today. Emma Hurley in the goal had 15 saves, which played a huge part in our win. We are looking forward to the week ahead.”
Upper Moreland (5-0, 2-0 SOL) will host William Tennent on Wednesday.

Springfield Township 13, Pennridge 9
Ella Marina and Maddie Yoder combined for nine goals and three assists to lead the Spartans to the non-league win Friday night. Marina scored five goals and assisted on two others while Yoder had four goals and one assist.
The two teams were deadlocked 5-5 at halftime, but the Spartans had the better of play in the second half, outscoring the Rams 8-4.
“A true even match and back and forth game – I’m so happy that my girls were able to gain control of the game in the second half and come out on top,” Springfield coach Marissa Conove said. “During the first half, Pennridge was able to gain control of the draw and maintain pressure on us. In the second half, we were able to gain control of the draw.
“We played a relaxed, spread out attack to maintain possession and give our cutters more room to work. This strategy worked and allowed more teamwork and cohesive play. Our defense was able to maintain and defend our eight for most plays that Pennridge ran on us.”
Also for the Spartans, Shannon Meder had a pair of goals, Lauren Corrado contributed a goal and an assist while Fiona Rizzo added one goal.
Springfield goalie Tess Talbot was credited with eight saves in a winning effort.
Springfield Township (3-2, 1-1 SOL) will host Cheltenham on Monday, and Pennridge (3-4, 2-1) will host Pennsbury on Monday.
