The visiting Panthers opened up a 7-0 lead on their way to the division win over the Lions.
“It was an all-around win today,” Tennent coach Lucas Denzi said. “Both the offense and defense really came to play.”
The Panthers plated a pair of unearned runs in the third and added a run in the fourth when Mike Scheller belted a solo home run to center field. A four-run fourth was highlighted by an RBI single by Scheller and a two-run single by Kevin Ralston that put the Panthers on top 7-0.
The Lions made it a 7-4 game with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Matt Jermyn drew a leadoff walk, and Saul Carmenini followed with a single. Mason Scall delivered a two-run single, and then it was Justin Lehman collecting an RBI single. An RBI double to left by Jason Kloss plated the fourth run.
A solo home run by Josh Nydick to left in the sixth closed out the scoring for both teams.
Scheller’s 2-for-4 effort at the plate with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored led the Panthers.
