National Conference
Central Bucks South 9, Pennridge 6
Chris Moore was perfect on faceoffs and goalkeeper Gavin Ostroff came up huge in the fourth quarter to help Central Bucks South hold off Pennridge to earn a 9-6 National Conference victory in a very meaningful game for the Titans.
“It was a very emotional night,” said South coach Mike Strayline. “We had a memorial ceremony for Lucas Traverse, one of our 2019 grads who passed early this year in a tragic accident at college.”
Traverse’s entire family was in attendance, and an inspired Titan squad opened up a 5-1 lead after one quarter and took an 8-3 lead into halftime. The Titans – behind the clutch play of Ostroff – had to hold off a charging Ram squad in the second half.
“We played with a lot of energy early and Chris Moore was amazing at the X,” Strayline said. “But Gavin Ostroff was the clear star of the night with seven key saves to help us beat a really tough Pennridge team.”
Moore was a stunning 16 for 16 on faceoffs, scooped up 8 ground balls, and added a goal. Ostroff recorded 13 saves, including 7 in the fourth quarter to deny a furious Pennridge rally attempt.
Nick Fareno had 2 goals and 2 assists for the Titans, Logan Dunn had 2 goals (as well as 1 caused turnover and 1 ground ball) and Reese Levinson scored twice.
Cole Cenci had a goal and 3 GBs and Evan Jacobsen added 1 goal. Christian Manibo caused a pair of turnovers, David Humphreys had 1 caused turnover and 1 ground ball.
South improves to 5-2 National, 6-3 overall. The Titans return to action for Senior Night when they host nonleague opponent Holy Ghost Prep at 7 pm Monday. Pennridge moves to 5-3, 7-6, and will host Central Bucks East at 7:30 pm Monday in a battle of two teams jockeying for position near the top of the National Conference standings.

North Penn 7, Central Bucks West 6
Connor Flynn brought his inside game outside, with pretty remarkable results.
Flynn, who plays goalkeeper in indoor box lacrosse, stepped between the pipes for North Penn with their regular goalie Matthew Kuhn out due to concussion protocol.
In just his second game in goal in the outside air, Flynn turned aside 14 shots as the Knights edged Central Bucks West 7-6 in a thrilling National Conference matchup on Friday.
“Talk about a player that puts the team before ‘me’ – I take my hat off to Connor Flynn,” said North Penn coach Rick Smith. “Connor Flynn literally said to the team, ‘I will play goalie.’ This is his second game playing goalie for us, and he stepped in tonight. He played very, very well.
“He plays box lacrosse, and it’s a little different when you compare indoor lacrosse and outdoor lacrosse, but once again, as a coach and as a teacher, any time you put the team before ‘me’, that’s a quality that will go with him for the rest of his life. That’s a tremendous characteristic he has, and he stepped up big.”
North Penn led 4-2 after one quarter and never trailed after that. Dakari Luby led the North Penn offense with 4 goals and 1 assist, while Lars Homan scored twice and added 1 assist. Declan Lanier had 1 goal, while Caleb Moister and Ryan McCann each added 1 assist.
“Dakari Luby and Lars Homan played very well,” Smith said. “Defensively, my four long poles—Ethan Bland, Danny Myers, Danny Sloan, and Ben Sanfelice—all four of those guys defensively played tremendous. CB West has some pretty good shooters on offense that we did our best to hold them in check.
“Any time Central Bucks West and North Penn play, it’s always going to be a fun, exciting game that’s going to come down to the wire. Both teams love to compete, and both teams came out tonight and they both competed. It was a fun game from beginning to end.”
For the Bucks, Brayden Albrecht and Austin Hahn both scored a pair of goals. Albrecht also contributed an assist. Connor Albrecht had a hand in 3 goals, scoring once and handing out a pair of assists. Jeff Woosnam added a single goal, and Landon Albrecht chipped in an assist.
Matt Jacobsen won 7 of 10 faceoffs, and Cole Gnutti won 1 of 3. Evan Hee was credited with six saves in goal for the Bucks.
North Penn improves to 4-3 in National Conference play, 7-6 overall, and will host Central Bucks South at 3:45 pm Monday.
“We’re attempting to put together four quarters of lacrosse,” Smith said. “I’m very, very proud of my team tonight because I talk a lot and the coaching staff talks a lot about the kids doing the things that can’t be coached—playing with energy, playing with passion. Tonight our entire team played with passion and they played with energy, and our coaching staff was very proud of them.”
West falls to 4-4, 5-7, and returns to action today with a noon game at nonleague opponent Kennett.
