North Penn defeated Spring-Ford in its Annual Hall of Fame Game on Friday.
North Penn 5, Spring-Ford 2
North Penn’s annual Hall of Fame Game on Friday night at Ben Hostelley Field featured a pair of teams who could very well meet again next week. Both teams have opening round byes in the District One 6A Tournament, and if both win Wednesday’s second round games, they will meet again in a district quarterfinal contest.
With that in mind, it’s a safe bet neither team tipped their hand in Friday night’s non-league contest. The two teams combined for just seven hits with the Rams managing only two off a trio of Knight hurlers. In a stellar outing, Seth Walton – who earned the win – did not allow a hit in three shutout innings to close out the game. He struck out five and did not walk a batter.
The Knights broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the fifth inning.
Colby Seelig had a productive night at the plate, contributing a triple and three RBIs. Colin Orndorff was 2-for-3.
Despite collecting just two hits, the Rams stranded 11 base runners, benefitting from nine free passes. The Knights- who left eight runners on board – were on the receiving end of eight walks.
North Penn (15-5, 11-5 SOL) – the 9th seed in the District One 6A Tournament – will host 8th-seeded Abington in a second round District One 6A contest on Wednesday. Both teams have opening round byes.
