METHACTON 2, SOUDERTON 1
The Indians have had the Warriors’ number in recent years, notching 3-1 win in the last two meetings. The Warriors broke that trend on Tuesday, eking out a 2-1 win in the tightly contested non-league game.
The Indians held a 16-10 advantage in corners, but it was the Warriors converting two of their corner opportunities into goals. Methacton took a a 1-0 lead with 6:23 remaining in the first half when Renee Blake found the cage.
Early in the third quarter, the Indians evened the score when – during corner play – they were awarded a penalty stroke. Lauren Kenah cashed in, and the two teams were deadlocked until Elise DeWan scored on a corner with 12 minutes remaining.
“Methacton did a better job stepping to the ball than we did tonight,” Souderton coach Sue Casciato said. “We struggled with some of our connections and didn’t get touches on balls that were played into our offensive circle. Methacton scored on two very nice corners and we couldn’t take advantage on our corner opportunities, which has been a real issue thus far.”
Souderton (1-1) will travel to Central Bucks South for Thursday’s SOL opener.
