SOL non-league crossover
William Tennent 4, Council Rock North 2
A major focus for the Panthers this year was to have a better showing in their crossover games.
After two close but ultimately tough losses to Plymouth Whitemarsh and Pennridge, William Tennent closed out crossover play with the result they were looking for against a dangerous CR North squad. The Panthers would score first but when CR North responded, it was the hosts finding the next goal for a surge of momentum they’d carry through the rest of the game.
Scoring Summary
1st half
WT – Bailey Kasner (Mia Rahn) 18:07
CRN
WT – Leila Santos (Lia Jablonowski) 3:40
2nd half
WT – Grace Bochnak (Bailey Kasner) 37:40
CRN
WT – Grace Bochank 11:01
William Tennent coach Elise Jara: “One of the keys for us was to keep CRN off the scoreboard early. We were able to get a goal from Bailey off a nice pass from defender Mia Rahn midway through the first half. They countered about 10 minutes later, but Leila was able to finish on a cross from Lia Jablonowski with a few minutes left in the half. From that point forward we didn’t look back.”
Takeaways: “The girls played an inspired game today and battled for this win against a skilled CRN team that we have not been able to get a ‘W’ against. We are very proud of the girls and what they have accomplished the last two days.”

With the changeup in crossover pairings this year, some teams have gotten the chance to play for the first time in a few years while others are flat out playing for the first time.
To the best of CR South coach Nick Heim’s memory, the Golden Hawks and Spartans had never met on the pitch, so Tuesday was a bit of a historic road trip. The Hawks knew they were heading into a tough matchup and got exactly that as last year’s SOL Freedom champions made the current SOL Patriot leaders work for the win.

CRS – Giulianna Conetta
CR South coach Nick Heim: “Our final crossover game came at Springfield in what very well may be the first ever meeting between the schools. I thought we got off to a good start with strong possession and generated two corner kicks in the first 35 seconds, the second of which we got on the end of but hit our own player on the goal line and stayed out. We continued with strong play and just had trouble connecting the final pass. The turf is quick there and the field was shorter and more narrow than most fields we played on, and we seemed to just hit our final ball a bit too far. We got a few more looks at goal in the first half but were just missing frame wide and went into half 0-0.”
Second half battle: “At half we talked about staying true to who we are, and I thought we came out strong. Their goalie made a big save on a semi- breakaway to keep it level. Eventually, Anna Horn was able to hit a screamer that their goalie made a fantastic diving save on; it was one of the best saves we have seen all season. Guilianna Conetta followed her run and we were able to get on the end of the rebound to put us up 1-0.”
Props: “They have a talented forward and I thought our backs – Krissy Philip, Lianna Shikhvarger, Maddie Mohr, Kait Hickey, and Zoya Joshua – did a fantastic job today at limiting chances in front of Maddie Hyams for the shutout.”
Takeaways: “We were a bit disappointed in our finishing but walking away with a road win against a solid team is a plus. Definitely have some fine tuning to do on our end. Anna Horn, Brooke Pavlow, and Ruby Bross were great in the midfield today and Lylah Day was dangerous throughout the afternoon. We’re back into division play Thursday as we welcome a dangerous Pennsbury side.”

No matter what the rest of this season holds, this year’s CB East senior class is already etched into program history.
They were integral parts of the Patriots’ first state championship team, have a District 1 Class 4A title to their
names and have made the state playoffs each of their first three seasons. Tuesday was their night to be recognized and while Senior Nights always bring that extra charge of emotion, this class did what they’ve done their entire careers thus far: stepped on the field and produced.
An own goal by the visiting Cardinals gave the Patriots all the opening they needed and it was the seniors leading the way as East opened things up after halftime. Taylor Roumy continued her stellar season, scoring twice and assisting another while Kiera Sleicher had a goal and two assists and senior Riley Leedy put her stamp on the night with a brace.
East also got a lift from senior Mia Forney, who tallied a helper as she returned from injury just in time for Senior Night.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
CBE – Own Goal 16th minute
CBE – Rylie Leedy (Kiera Sleicher) 22nd minute
2nd Half
CBE – Taylor Roumy (Mia Forney) 42nd minute
CBE – Rylie Leedy (Taylor Roumy) 62nd minute
CBE – Kiera Sleicher 64th minute
CBE – Taylor Roumy (Kiera Sleicher) 66th minute
CB East coach Jake Nesteruk: “I thought we put together a really solid performance tonight across the
board. Senior Night is always a bit tricky between the emotions of it and timing, but I thought our kids handled themselves really well and stayed focused on earning a result more than anything. I thought we had a really good start, just couldn’t find a way to break through or put that final pass or finish together. We eventually broke through twice off a great run from Mia Forney in her first night back leading to an own goal and then a great hustle goal and good finish from Rylie Leedy. Credit to both of them – Mia is just getting back in the swing of things and was sharp in her minutes and Rylie found ways to pull off a play here and there out of grit.”
Opening things up: “Second half, we were simply sharper in finishing off our chances and thought we gave less away in transition which Upper Dublin did a nice job with forcing in the first half. Always nice to have such an immediate response out of halftime and T (Roumy) provided that spark immediately.”
Takeaways: “Overall, it was a really nice night for our program and a great way to honor our most accomplished group of seniors. We’re looking forward to maintaining the momentum into a big game against a very good North Penn team.”

Harry S Truman 3, Cheltenham 2
Wins aren’t the only measure of progress, but they are always a nice reward for it.
Last year, the Tigers made a lot of progress on and off the field and earned two wins along the way. They’d hoped to continue that progress this year and certainly have done so, whether it was goals, defensive plays, players stepping up all fall or opponents taking note, and it’s shown in their record too.
Tuesday marked Truman’s fourth win of the year, the Tigers’ first time reaching that number since the fall of 2013 and doubling last year’s win total. It didn’t come easily, Cheltenham twice cutting a two-goal lead down to just one and keeping the pressure on into the final minutes.
Again, progress isn’t only measured in wins, but they’re always a welcomed addition and Truman has certainly earned them.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
HST – Brennan Gilbert 1:56
HST – Gwen Marston (Lily Hadfield, Madison Egan) 16:33
C – 22:57
2nd Half
HST – Gwen Marston (Brennan Gilbert, Skyla Leiva) 2:04
C -19:40
Goalkeeper Saves: HST – Dani Gilbert, 14
Harry S Truman coach Brian Gilbert: “My two biggest takeaways from today’s game were our ability to read the play and the ability to string together multiple passes. The girls picked up their marks, read the play and moved in anticipation rather than waiting and reacting. Both of our first half goals were scored off turnovers. Instead of just kicking the ball, they played feet and moved the ball from right to center and from left to center with short precise passes. I’m extremely proud of how hard these girls have played all season. To come out on the winning side of a hard fought one-goal game and double their win total from a year ago, that speaks volumes on what these girls have accomplished this season.”
Fast start: “It was a cat fight between the Tigers and Panthers. Truman drew first blood just one minute and 56 seconds in. Cheltenham played the ball back to the keeper and she attempted to play it out to the far fullback to her left. Freshman Brennan Gilbert read the play and jumped the route. Gilbert intercepted the pass, took one touch and struck a hard shot up and over the keeper’s head for her first goal of the season.”
Building the lead: “Truman extended the lead to two off a goal by junior Gwen Marston. Three freshmen played a role as Ariana Aviles pressured a defender to the right, getting a piece of the clear. Madison Egan reacted and came up with the ball and dribbled to goal and found Lily Hadfield in the center at the right hashmark of the football field. Marston bounced outside to the left of her attacker and Hadfield threaded a pass onto Marston’s foot. With the pass coming right-to-left, Marston settled it with her left foot and took a quick right-footed strike that landed just inside the left post, just beyond the fingertips of the diving keeper. Cheltenham battled back, scoring off a corner kick near the midway point of the half.”
Quick strike again: “Truman came out strong to start the second half and got another quick goal, just 2:04 in. Senior Skyla Leiva stole the ball and fed Brennan Gilbert with a pass. Marston made an overlapping run, and Gilbert chipped a pass over the defenders’ heads and Marston was off to the races on a breakaway. The keeper came out to challenge, but Marston made no mistake burying the eventual game winner into the back of the net for her team-leading eighth goal of the season and her third game-winner of the year. Cheltenham battled back, scoring with just seven minutes left in the game. The Panthers continued to pressure, however the Truman defense held them off and Truman recorded its fourth win of the season.”
Takeaways: “Cheltenham’s No. 14 (Ondrea Wardlaw) was fast and they were working hard to get her the ball over the top and she scored a nice goal to make it a one-goal game. She definitely had us worried. Marston dropped back to shadow her, and in the closing minutes, there was a race to the ball inside the 18, and Marston was able to snuff the shot of what would’ve been a sure goal. Dropping Marston back left only one forward up top for us. There were a few plays where the defense could have easily put the ball back into our end, but Brennan Gilbert was a one-girl wrecking crew, beating the defender to the ball and then taking on two and sometimes three defenders to get the ball deep into the Cheltenham zone. Gilbert led the team in shots coming into the game and seemed to be snakebitten as the ball would not find the back of the net. It was great to see her get that first varsity goal today.”
Props: “Our fullbacks played hard today, and they were spent when they came off the field. Bella Romer and Natalie Klimowicz logged a complete game in the middle and outside backs Harley Palenick, Payton Morris, Julianna Romer and Monica Almanza battled on the outside the entire game. Senior Skyla Leiva transitioned from striker to midfield just one game ago and I think today was her best game of the season. Leiva is one of a handful of seniors who are only in their second year of high school soccer and their progression is noticeable and a big part of the program’s successful turnaround.”
HARRY S TRUMAN 2 1 – 3
CHELTENHAM 1 1 – 2
Neshaminy 2, Lower Moreland 2
Tuesday was more like Ties-day for Neshaminy and Lower Moreland.
While the girls were playing to a 2-2 draw, the boys’ game also finished level at 3-3 to finish their respective crossover slates. In the girls’ game, Neshaminy controlled the first half for a deserved halftime lead before pushing their advantage early in the second half only to see the Lions rally back to force a split.
Scoring Summary
1st half
N – Emma Harrison (Lily Kaczmarek)
2nd half
N – Chloe Mougeotte (Lily Kaczmarek)
LM – Agnes Kroll (Shannon Mahon)
LM – Shannon Mahon (Ella Frey)
Neshaminy coach Josh Van Reed: “From the beginning of the game, Lower Moreland came out very aggressive. They challenged for a lot of balls and created some chances. We settled in a little bit and won a corner kick that Lily did a good job of serving in and Emma Harrison did a great job of finding in the air.
Battle after halftime: “Making it to halftime and wanting to add to our lead, we came out aggressive and creating chances. With another corner from Lily, this time Chloe finished to put us up 2-0. Lower Moreland kept working and scored two quick goals to bring it back to even. I got to give credit to them that they kept working. We had a few more chances but couldn’t seem to get on the end of the ball to finish today.”
Lower Moreland coach Todd Hill: “Our girls played a really solid game today and battled for a tie with Neshaminy. Once again, we demonstrated so much determination. Even though I think we played a really good first half, we came into halftime down then Neshaminy came out of the half and put tons of pressure on us. I am really proud of our girls for absorbing the pressure and keeping the ball out of the net.”
Goalkeeper props: “Senior goalkeeper Mariah Gazzara had several amazing saves. She really kept us in the game. She is so quick. I am really proud of her performance.”
Attack finds its footing: “With Mariah holding down the defensive side of things, sophomore Ella Fey got things going offensively. Though Ella had twisted her ankle earlier in the game, she battled through the discomfort and created an awesome opportunity along the baseline sending the ball through the box to senior Shannon Mahon. In the chaos, Shannon maintained her composure and slid a nice ball to senior Agnes Kroll, who buried her third goal in two games. Agnes was such a presence for us today.”
Equalizing effort: “Shortly after, Shannon Mahon attacked Neshaminy’s defense aggressively and slid the ball to Ella Fey. Ella returned the ball to Shannon who slid the ball past the keeper and into the back of the net. Both Shannon and Ella had such composure, it was a really great combination.”
NESHAMINY 1 1 – 2
LOWER MORELAND 0 2 – 2
Pennsbury 4, Upper Moreland 1
The Falcons had their finishing touch with them on Tuesday.
While they scored three goals in last week’s barnburner with Quakertown, the Falcons had been shut out in their three prior matches, so they wanted to keep their form in front of goal sharp. That focus translated into a productive day on the attacking end led by Julia Hammer as she recorded a brace and assist. Jill Patrick also had a solid outing, scoring a goal and assisting on what was the eventual game-winner as Pennsbury’s ball movement generated quality chances throughout the 80 minutes.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
P – Julia Hammer (Sofia Gorski)
2nd Half
P – Julia Hammer (Jill Patrick)
P – Jill Patrick (Julia Hammer)
P – Kailee Gola (Julia Miles)
UM goal
Pennsbury coach Jenna Peters: “Going into this game, we talked a lot about staying focused and locked in for the entire game. These last few games, we have created chances and played great possession but haven’t been able to find the result. Today, we talked about putting it all together as a team.”
Hammer time: “Julia Hammer opened the scoring after a great run and shot from Sofia Gorski, finishing the rebound in the box. At halftime, we talked about scoring first and not allowing any more goals by shifting together and stepping hard. The girls responded and came out strong.
“Jill Patrick then delivered a great corner that Julia finished for her second goal of the night. Julia Hammer then found Jill Patrick with a through ball, Jill was able to run onto it and score from the 18.”
Finishing touch: “Julia Miles had a great hustle play to keep the ball in bounds, cut it back, and crossed it to Kailee Gola who was composed in the box and finished it. It was a great team win and a great response from the girls tonight.”
PENNSBURY 1 3 – 4
UPPER MORELAND 0 1 – 1
Pennridge 5, Plymouth Whitemarsh 1
The Rams made the most of their crossover slate, recording three wins in as many fixtures and hope to carry that momentum into their closing stretch.
Senior G Howley turned in a monster second half, the Christopher Newport recruit bagging an assist followed by a natural hat trick to jumpstart an offense that was looking for a little more production off its chances. Senior Natalie Walter, a Bloomsburg commit, opened the scoring in the first half.
While the scoreboard didn’t favor their efforts, the Colonials rediscovered the fight and form they’re aiming to carry into their final leg of the season. Liv Patete scored her third goal of the season, finishing a corner kick to give Maddi Lazaroff her fifth assist of the fall to end the match on a high note.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
P – Natalie Walter
2nd Half
P – Maya Howard (G Howley Assist)
P – G Howley (Kylie Manville)
P – G Howley (Peyton Rabinowitz)
P – G Howley (Mim Foster-Swartley)
PW – Liv Patete (Maddi Lazaroff)
Pennridge coach Lucas Kriner: “Good game from the team today. Pleased with the result and to go 3-0 in crossovers. We should take pride and use this momentum. Happy for the goals from Nat, Maya and G.”
Howley heats up: “G’s hat trick was a nice flourish on the day. She’s working really hard, and the hope is that the hunger that she’s demonstrating in and around the box is contagious as we head back into league play. Nice to see the girls play proactive soccer and get into good areas of the field to create chances. It’s what we’ll need moving forward in October.”
Plymouth Whitemarsh coach TJ DeLucia: “Coming off a poor result Friday, our team really bounced back today at Pennridge. We saw the same energy, effort, and defensive intensity that we had last week at CR North. It was a scoreless game for the first 37 minutes. We had the best chance of the half on a corner kick over the keeper’s head but did not have anyone there to put it away. With three minutes to go in the half, Pennridge scored a fluky goal on a pop up that we can’t secure in the box into a muffed clearance into our own net. That was certainly deflating, being down 1-0 at half in that manner.”
Takeaways: “Our solid effort continued in the second half. Pennridge is very talented. As we told the team post-game, if we come out with that type of energy in our final four league games – we’re going to be in a good spot to end the season.”
PENNRIDGE 1 4 – 5
PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 0 1 – 1
New Hope-Solebury 3, Bensalem 2
The Lions and Owls battled it out for 80 minutes on Tuesday, New Hope-Solebury making a lone goal in the second half stand up as the winner.
Natalie D’Agostino gave the hosts both of their first half goals before Ceci Capriotti provided the game-winner after halftime.
New Hope-Solebury coach Chris Shank: “Natalie D’Agostino had a brace, scoring one on a PK after being taken down in the box. Ceci Capriotti scored on a breakaway, we had talked about her speed and her heavy touch in those situations, and she was calm and poised, played the ball around the keeper and slotted home the game winner.”
Props: “Our back line of Addy Weisbrot, Astrid Van Zelowitz and Hailey Castellanos played solid for all 80 minutes. Hats off to Bensalem who kept fighting. It was our teacher appreciation game which gave the girls a chance to thank someone who has believed in them throughout their high school career.”
NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 2 1 – 3
BENSALEM 2 0 – 2
Central Bucks South 2, Abington 0
The Titans used a pair of first half goals to close out crossovers with a solid win over an Abington side that had been on a good run of form.
Senior Lucy Keane had the right touch for the Titans on Tuesday, the Sam Houston State recruit serving up an assist on each of her team’s goals: a cross going to Maddie Roe and the other to classmate Khloe Montini. That was all the offense South’s defense needed, the Titans backline getting a spark from freshman Avery Rogers taking the place of her older sister Tenley to post the shutout win.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
CBS – Maddie Roe (Lucy Keane) 11th
CBS – Khloe Montini (Lucy Keane) 35th
2nd Half
No Scoring
CB South coach Dana Cole: “Our unselfish defense played amazing with the help of Ella Parish, Peyton Karpinski, Addi Konopka, Olivia Creswick, and freshman Avery Rogers who stepped in to try to help fill her big sister Tenley’s shoes since she is currently injured. Addi McKeon along with Maddie Roe stepped up big as our defensive center midfield, winning a lot of 50/50 balls in the air and maintaining possession to keep us moving forward in our attack. Senior Siena Carone started in net to hold off Abington from scoring and Morgan Sowash contributed in the second half to help secure the shutout.”
Props: “Kate Walsh, GiGi Artman and Ali Tait put a lot of pressure on Abington’s defense creating offensive opportunities and helping keep the ball in our offensive third.”
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 2 0 – 2
ABINGTON 0 0 – 0
Central Bucks West 1, Quakertown 0
The Bucks just kept working under the War Memorial lights on Tuesday.
Between their efforts to keep a potent Quakertown attack under wraps and their endeavors to put one away, the Bucks bought into a CB West style of game and never let up. Angelina Lang finally had the breakthrough, scoring the lone goal of the match early in the second half with a host of contributors doing their part to make sure it was all that was needed.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
No scoring
2nd Half
CBW – Angelina Lang 50th
CB West coach Bree Benedict: “Overall, this was a really good CB West team win. I was proud of the way we stayed patient at 0-0, continued to trust our possession, and found the breakthrough in the second half. I was also really proud of our defenders for seeing out the game and earning another shutout at War Memorial.”
Lang cashes in: “Angelina Lang scored the winner about 10 minutes into the second half, and I thought she deserved to be rewarded for the game she had. She was aggressive in wide areas, drove the end line multiple times, and consistently looked to put their back line under pressure.”
Plenty of props: “I thought Alyssa Terry really unlocked our attack tonight. Her movement was fluid both on and off the ball, and she played with a real desire to constantly be involved. Her ability to find the ball in different spaces helped us win transition moments, sustain possession, and spend longer stretches of the game in their half. Ellen Gorman had a really strong game up top as well. Her ability to connect with Alyssa and then find the third runner coming through midfield allowed us to play through pressure, switch the point of attack, and keep possession.”
All-effort contributions: “Amber Madden and Addie Herman both gave us really good moments in midfield and helped us control the middle of the field. Sophie Borgmann has been asked to play a few different roles for us, and I thought we really benefited from the positive forward energy she gave us tonight. Whether it was running through a ball to extend a possession, playing the final pass, or recovering quickly to help us defend, she consistently gave us the lift we needed.”
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 0 1 – 1
QUAKERTOWN 0 0 – 0
Wissahickon 1, North Penn 1
The Knights and Trojans battled to a draw to close out their crossover slate on Tuesday.
Wissahickon took a lead at halftime before the hosts rallied back to equalize in the second half. Otherwise, it was a duel in the middle of the field with both defenses also stepping up to make some timely stops throughout the match.
Scoring Summary
1st Half
W – Kate Irani (Kaylee Hammond)
2nd Half
NP – Xani Bachmann (Lani Bachmann)
North Penn coach Mike Rio: “Tough game against Wiss tonight. Really hard fought between both sides. They took the lead early after we turned the ball over at midfield and they hit us on a great counter and great individual effort by their forward. After that they really defended with a lot of intensity and it took us a while to break down.”
Knights break through: “Finally with about 10 to go in the second half, Xienna Bachmann tied it up with a great strike after a great ball from Lani Bachmann. We created some chances apart from that but couldn’t put a winner in. I thought both teams worked really hard tonight and a tie was probably a fair result.”
Props: “Catie Ciotti made a couple of great saves for us in goal. We also probably worked through four different formations throughout the game trying to find an opening and I thought our girls showed great flexibility and toughness to battle back and get the tie after a tough game against Perk Valley on Monday. Wiss is really a solid squad and it was really a great match between two teams and I think gave our girls a great taste of the intensity for what these games will be like for the remainder of the season and hopefully into some playoff fixtures.”
Wissahickon coach Chris McDaniels: “Wiss scored midway through the first half, Kate Irani with the nice finish off a Kaylee Hammond helper. Well-played game between two evenly matched teams. The Wiss midfield did a nice job limiting North Penn’s possession. Sidney Jackson came up big a few times to keep it level.”
WISSAHICKON 1 0 – 1
NORTH PENN 0 1 – 1
The Indians scored a goal in each half – Lily Heron in the first half and Hannah Beckett in the second – on their way to a shutout win in crossover action.
S -Lily Heron
S -Hannah Beckett
Souderton coach Melissa Lollar:
“I thought we did a very good job of focusing on some things we have been working on to get ready for the return of conference play after a stretch of crossover games. Hatboro played a tight defensive game, which made us practice patience to earn the goals. I have to give a lot of credit to their fight and defensive effort. We are looking forward to our game Thursday.”
