BASEBALL
Mark Angelo (Quakertown) hit his fourth home run of the season to put East Stroudsburg ahead 2-0 in the first inning of the Warriors’ 8-1 win over Bloomsburg in game two of a double header last Saturday. He also had an RBI double. Andy Noga (Cheltenham) pitched a perfect seventh inning in relief. For Bloomsburg, Joe Crossin (Pennsbury) worked 5.1 innings in relief, allowing five hits and two runs. The Warriors, who scored 49 runs in a four-game sweep of Bloomsburg this weekend, won the second game 13-3 as they upped their record to 20-14 overall, 5-7 PSAC East. Tony Donofry (Council Rock North) singled and drove in a run for Bloomsburg in the 13-3 loss. He also had a hit in game two.
On Friday, East Stroudsburg defeated Bloomsburg 18-5 and 10-4 in a doubleheader. In game one, Mark Angelo was 2-for-5 with a run batted in for the Warriors. Keith Mayer (Council Rock South) and Tony Donofry each contributed singles for Bloomsburg
Mike Knipe (Pennridge) and Andrew Donofry (Hatboro-Horsham) contributed singles in a three-run uprising in the seventh inning that propelled Chestnut Hill to a 3-2 win over Felician College on Friday.  Alex Latchum (Central Bucks South) also contributed a single.
Jamie Abercrombie (Hatboro-Horsham) singled in a five-run second inning in Temple’s 11-9 win over LaSalle in the first game of a doubleheader on Friday. The Owls won the nightcap 5-2 to improve to 5-0 in the Atlantic 10, their best start since 1984.
MEN’S LACROSSE
Widener freshman Johnny Casey (Abington) was named Middle Atlantic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week. He finished the week with seven goals and nine points over two games for Widener, which split a pair of MAC contests. He had five goals in the Pride’s 12-10 loss to Messiah and two in the squad’s 17-0 rout of Alvernia.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Bloomsburg’s Sam Alexander (Upper Moreland) scored four goals, and Brieann Wolfe (Pennridge) had an assist in the Huskies 15-14 loss to sixth-ranked Mercyhurst on Sunday. Wolfe also had four ground balls and two turnovers caused. Alexander had one turnover caused. Bloomsburg is 6-2, 3-1 PSAC East. Alexander had three goals and Wolfe two in Bloomsburg’s 24-2 rout of Edinboro on Saturday. Alexander also had two ground balls and one turnover caused while Wolfe had one ground ball.
Chrissy Stokes (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored a pair of goals, but West Chester fell to Mercyhurst 11-9 on Saturday morning. The Golden Rams (6-1) saw their 26-game winning streak come to a halt while Mercyhurst is undefeated (7-0).
Chrissy Stokes scores a pair of goals and assisted on two others in West Chester’s 17-5 win over Millersville on Thursday. Laura DeLuca (North Penn) scored a goal for Millersville, and goalie Courtney Haggerty (Hatboro-Horsham) was credited with 11 saves for the Marauders. Haggerty had five saves in Millersville’s 14-11 win over Slippery Rock on Saturday. The Marauders are 3-3.
Chrissy Stokes contributed the hat trick in West Chester’s 18-2 rout of Bloomsburg last Tuesday. In last Monday’s 23-10 win over East Stroudsburg, Stokes had a pair of goals while Gabrielle Stitz (Hatboro-Horsham) added a single goal.
Breanne Scullin (Council Rock South) was credited with one ground ball and one turnover caused in The College of New Jersey’s 18-8 win over St. Mary’s on Saturday. TCNJ, ranked fourth, upped its record to 6-0.
East Stroudsburg’s Michelle Mangiaruga (North Penn) scored three goals and Sara Foley (Neshaminy) added a goal, but the Warriors fell to Lock Haven 22-10 on Saturday. Amber Hoch (Souderton) led Lock Haven with six goals. The Warriors fell to 3-6 while the Bald Eagles improved to 8-2.
Leeann Pica (Neshaminy) had a goal and an assist in Kutztown’s 13-8 loss to IUP on Saturday.
SOFTBALL
Junior Kaitlin Arbogast (Wissahickon) earned the win on the mound in Kutztown’s 4-1 win over Shippensburg in the first game of a twinbill on Monday. She struck out five and retired the final 17 batters she faced in notching her 15th win of the season. Senior Steph Denlinger (Souderton) hit two home runs and scored three runs in Kutztown’s 9-1 win over Shippensburg in the second game. She now has 14 home runs on the season. Freshman Heather Hannum (Hatboro-Horsham) drove in two runs in a four-run first and closed out the game with a solo walk-off home run. Sara Golden (Souderton) also contributed an RBI for the Golden Bears, who improved to 30-6 overall, 6-0 PSAC East.
Kutztown swept its doubleheader with East Stroudsburg on Friday, downing the Warriors 5-0 and 9-5. Steph Denlinger drove in four runs on the day, shattering the PSAC record for RBIS in a career. She now has 205. Kaitlin Arbogast pitched a complete game shutout in Kutztown’s 5-0 win, striking out nine while allowing just four base runners on two hits and two walks. Arbogast earned the save in game two, working the final two innings in relief. East Stroudsburg freshman Rachel Gieringer (Hatboro-Horsham) contributed an RBI single in the first inning of game two, and she also had a two-run double in the fifth.
Rachel Geiringer contributed a double in a first inning that saw East Stroudsburg score its only run in a 2-1 loss to Shippensburg in the second game of a double header on Saturday. Shippensburg (15-11, 3-1) won the first game 2-0.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
West Chester’s Claire Afrassiabian (Norristown) defeated Cara Wallin 6-0, 6-1 and teamed with Bridget Dougherty to earn an 8-1 win in doubles in the Golden Rams’ 9-0 win over Chestnut Hill College on Friday.
Freshman Liz Heisler (Wissahickon) and Kelly Eurich posted an 8-3 victory at second singles in Gettysburg’s 9-0 win over York on Friday. Heisler defeated Samantha Brenner 6-1, 6-2 at sixth singles.
MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Bloomsburg’s Adam Mowry (Hatboro-Horsham) was second in the pole vault at the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna University on Saturday. Mowry cleared 13 feet, six inches (4.11m).
Widener junior James Green (North Penn) earned a victory in the men’s javelin throw at the Danny Curran Invitational on Saturday, notching an NCAA ‘B’ qualifier at 60.12 meters. He is the fourth ranked javelin thrower in the country.
WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Bloomsburg’s Julianne Spitzer (Central Bucks West) was fifth in the pole vault at the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna University on Saturday. Spitzer cleared 8 feet, six inches (2.59m).
Widener junior Nikita Halteman (North Penn) won the women’s discus at the Danny Curran Invitational on Saturday with a throw of 38.76 meters.
Katherine Doyle (Central Bucks West) was part of East Stroudsburg’s 4x100 relay that finished fourth at the Lafayette Eight-Way Meet at Moravian College on Saturday. Kristen Morby (Central Bucks West) was fifth in the pole vault (10-0). Kayla Littrell (William Tennent) finished 16th in the 100 meter dash and 15th in the 200 meter dash. Kathleen Lavelle (Council Rock South) was 19th in the 200. East Stroudsburg captured the meet title.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Sophomore Michael Semeraro (Pennsbury) contributed nine kills in East Stroudsburg’s 3-2 win over Mount Olive on Sunday (25-30, 30-26, 15-30, 30-26, 16-14). The Warriors are 7-7.
